  1. Hi all, I'll be VM'ing our physical main file server soon - currently 12TB capacity over 8 disks on a RAID5 array. I'll be putting extra hard disks in my host, creating a new array and a new datastore for that VM to fill up. My hypervisor machine only has RAID0 and RAID1 on the controller. HP HDD's for my server at the moment are: 4TB - £220 6TB - £770 If I create a RAID1 array can I make it larger than the capacity of the disk? e.g. If I put in four 4TB disks can I make an array of 8TB? Server is an HP Proliant 360p Gen 8 with the standard HP Smart Array P420i controller I'm pretty sure I can't but I'm throwing it out there...... Cheers in advance
  2. These new cars look really mean. And so low. I like

  4. Ones I've had from CPC have been pretty naff. Mayflex did us good ones.
  5. Why isn't my smoothie box filtering that rubbish out!
  6. Couple of years ago I was running some CAT5 through the basement at school. Its a Victorian building so underneath are tunnels that used to be heating ducts from the coal fired boilers. You can crawl through and then into large voids - bit like a pyramid. I'm there with my phone torch, on my own, pitch dark... there's a tunnel to my right. I shine the torch down. What do I see six feet in front of me......? Highlight below A LIFE SIZED PAPER MACHE MAN SITTING AT A DESK, BIG PAINTED BLACK FACE, HUGE WHITE EYES, WEARING AN OLD COAT STARING RIGHT AT ME POINTING HIS FINGER. Poo should have come out. I almost actually sh@t myself. I must take someone (victim) down there and see him again!
  7. You'll get a 1 TB hybrid SSD for about 70 quid
  8. I've had this when a domain controller wasn't networking properly or the client couldn't communicate with the DC... I think it was DNS... I'd have a look for duplicate A records to the DC's and flush the local DNS on the clients
  9. I use http://www.ipaqrepair.co.uk for android and apple screens. Worth a call .. they might do them. They're very good and they're cheap and you can do pay on account. EDIT: They do... https://www.ipaqrepair.co.uk/index.php?route=product/search&search=surface
  10. So that word again was............
  11. I put Ruckus in about 4 years ago. Was pricey but its excellent. I really rate it. But when new AP's go in etc it stings a bit on cost. And at some point I'll probably have to upgrade the controller to add AP's. I think thats kinda the way Ruckus work. New AP won't work on old controllers forcing you into an upgrade.
  12. Hhmm. Thinking ubiquity.
  13. No I just recreated a new one from scratch. Imagine the Sims cr@p that would be generated with online forms ! Oh my!
  14. Junior Librarian.net is a terrible product and their support stinks. I constantly have problems with it.

  16. No. 'Fraid not.
  17. Can't fault our Sharps. Great machines and very reliable. Work very well with PaperCut.
  18. Problem is there's nothing that gets installed by the look of it. It activates per machine online. I just need it to run on the first login, then not run again.
  19. I think enterprise just has reporting built in. Is that right?
  20. Hi all, I have a PDF viewer called Lock Lizard I'm about to deploy via GPO. It goes with a resources website called Cornerstones Education. There is a license file that needs to be run after the installation to activate it - looks like an executable... .llv Is there a way I can get this file to run via GPO just once per machine ?? Cheers in advance
  21. Veeam would be 10/10 if they did a virtual appliance instead of having to install it on Windows
  22. Have you got multiple NICs with leads plugged in without NIC teaming set up ??
  23. @kennysarmy Thats not too big a job to in-house. Is it ? Veeam is pretty intuitive. And putting a host together is a doddle.
  24. End of the day the biggest hassle is the re-training of staff and change of operation processes. It most likely isn't worth the change.
