Hi, I am the IT Manager at The British International School of Jeddah - Saudi Arabia.

Vik Paw was instrumental in getting us all very excited about Edugeek! I was fortunate to meet a few of the key players of Edugeek @ BETT - They were an impressive collection of the most helpful and technology informed guys I have ever met! A week later I knew why Edugeek is so successful: IT IS ADDICTIVE!! Can't go to bed without at least checking Edugeek!

It was a pleasure to meet you Jacques. Now you know that whenever I meet with a company who want to work with us I always refer to Edugeek as a community, never just a website. Some companies still don't get it.

And that is soemthing I would never, ever sell out on.

Welcome Jacques, and like DB has said, it was very nice to meet you at BETT this year and have a good chat to you. I found it very interesting how good BETT is for yourselves out in Saudi and that you will be getting containers of kit shipped over which I think is great.

I'm sure we will be seeing you for BETT 2010 :)

Hello to all, my name is Alan, I visit hundreds of schools and colleges all around the UK to carry out surveys for an air conditioning company, providing solutions for Air/Con, Heating, ventilation, and energy saving, I am not advertising, I would like to offer help and advice for anyone with concerns of temperature and/or ventilation / fresh air problems within server rooms and ICT classrooms, I will sit at the back quietly and won't touch anything, hollar if you need me,

great site, Chris Byers, when I grow up, I want to be a Geek.. Part time PC dabbler.

Hi guys

 

Been working in IT since I left college, 7 odd years ago. Only been in Education as a tecnician for 2 and a half years, both in West London schools, the first been a Viglen site (6 months) the current one is an RM site (2 years +)

 

Really enjoy it and its great seeing the kids look up to you for problem solving.

Hello,

 

my name is Gabriel. I just graduated from FIU and got a job as the inhouse IT for a company here in Miami. Now I have done contract work that did everything that had to do with Networks but their main focus was wireless communication. Now i'm in charger of the day to day operations of this place. Its fairly small with about 15 users and one server. So far no tragic problems have occur but as any recent grad I am trying to learn as much as I can before any other problem arise. Even though they do say experience ("stress") is the best teacher. :D

Hey, I'm new here. I work in tech support/integration in a large school district. I graduated from college with a Computer Information Systems major and I never thought I would be in an educational setting for my job but I have really enjoyed it so far. I plan to be in a more business-like setting in the long future but for now this is great for me. :)

 

 

What I'm currently working on and learning: Moodle, PHP, Linux (we run Moodle on a Linux server), blogs and wikis for our district, CMS, portal and a social networking software for our district.

Welcome, LoveToLearn: as you are not in a school you may be a little confused by some of the references and content on this site; just remember that most of us are a bit mad and you'll be fine ;)

Thanks, I'm not a complete novice, just a learner (used to acronyms in all shapes and forms lol), even thinking about a career change and going into the IT sector. I always fix my friends PC's be it hardware related (to a certain degree) or software/OS side.

 

Example, other day friend of mine says "PC don't work" work, a common response from people totally clueless (bless em) so I took a quick look. Took me 30 mins after tests to diagnose (imo) what was wrong with it, a hard drive! clicking, whirring/nasty noise. Corrupted C drive error. and S.M.A.R.T test in bios....... after 40 minutes the indian support guy told me that was indeed the case and it would be picked up next day. I'm thinking I told you that from the start you fool *rant over* lol

 

Hope to learn a few things here from the pro's.

 

So that's a more in-depth introduction of myself ;)

I'm sure that you know a great deal.

I meant that working in a school is a very distinct environment and that there would be occasional references to things that would make no sense to you! (sometimes they make no sense to us either :D)

You will certainly learn a lot - it is the best place I have ever found for learning about computers.

Hello everyone,

 

I am a final year student at the university of Bolton, studying a BSc Hons in Internet Communications and Networks and now starting to look for jobs within industry as I finish in June this year. I thought Id try an array of options in order to secure a job one begin posting on forums if anyone knew of networking jobs within the North West region. I also volunteer for a charity in Salford assisting the the Network Admin there.

Sorry about that Adam, you would not believe the amount of companies we get on here trying to sneakily promote themselves having just signed up. I hope you understand why your post was interpreted in this manner. Oh and welcome :D
