Ok, It's my birthday today and got a superb pressie off my better half, a 'Racing Day' voucher.

My choices are;

A Lambourghini Gallardo(all £130,000 of it)

A porsche

A Ferrari 360

An Aston Martin

An Ariel Atom

Audi R8?

Lotus Elite

V8 touring car

Which one should I choose?

I've got the same sort of choice to make, though I think my options are Aston Martin, Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo or Atom.

I'm tempted to do the atom, just for the sheer speed of it, but I might end up going for the Aston, just cos.......

Probably the Atom, unless it's raining and then definitely the Atom! Driving these sorts of cars re-ignites the 10 year old in us, and 10 year olds like jumping in puddles! :D

I'd go for the Aston. There's something about them that just does it for me. Even when car reviewers have said it's better to get the V12 Vantage rather than the V8, I'd still be tempted to get the V8 for the noise it creates and it's an Aston.

...Now, to find the cash for one.

My thoughts exactly on the Aston. I've just always wanted one. The wife got me the track day so I could actually drive one.

I was told though that most track days the track can be quite full wiith cars, its not you vs the world! And also many require a £25 insurance surcharge for any accidental damage. I suppose £25 isn't bad if you write off a 200k car :p

Hang on, an actual Touring Car?

If so then thats definitely the one I'd go for :-)

Yes, like the ones the race in Australia, can't remember which on it is though. The Aston does it for me too......but I could pretend I'm Xenia Onatopp in Goldeneye if I choose the Ferrari.....Hmmmmm

It would have to be the lambo or the Ferrari for me. The rest you see all the time on the roads, and are quite attainable if you save your pennies. Dont get me wrong, I think the atom would be the most fun but as said "just coz"...

Have done the Ferrari Experience at Silverstone.....

Fortunately, the day I did it, the bottom half of the circuit was closed so it was ALL based around the pits and start/finish line.

First corner, I go into it at about 80, and do a 360. Come to a stop and look sheepishly at the instructor, who says "That's how easy it is to spin!"

Had 3 laps, total, and there really is nothing like going over the S/F line at 150+, braking into the first corner, and then tearing up the tarmac as you race away.

I'd say do the Ferrari, but I'm biased!!!!

I've actually been to an experience day (well 1/2 day really) at Silverstone. I had 4 laps in a Lotus Exige and 4 laps in a Ferrari 360. I actually preferred the Exige to the Ferrari - lighter and more nimble, corners as if it was on rails. So I would go for the Atom from your list. Think of it as a 140mph go-kart! Although, I wouldn't mind a spin in a V8 Touring Car either. It really depends on whether you like to try a proper racing car or a supercar. Also, depending which track you're on, you might only be able to get up to 140mph anyway.

Doing the same before June this year (yet to book, as I've yet to lose the required weight!). I have the choice of a single seater racer though so it's an obvious choice for me. Would always toss up between the Exige and Atom though if that wasn;t available :D There's always the thrill of being able to say "I've driven a Ferrari/Lambo/Aston" etc but you won't get nearly the fun of driving as the little guys with no weight and lots of oomph :D
