  1. hi all, I'm having a bit of a headache with our Apple TVs. We've just deployed around 60 of them, all setup with a global proxy to go through our in house Squid box which just puts in the username and password the for the staff Internet account and then forwards traffic to our LA. It works great for everything except playing video users have taken using the camera on the iPad, Youtube works fine though. If we take the proxy settings out the video plays, but the Apple TVs get the pupil Internet settings then (i.e. no youtube). This is an option though as I can reserve a range of IPs for the Apple TVs and get our LA to allow Youtube access for them, but as the Apple TVs are now in place, some rather inaccessible, I'd rather avoid this route unless needed! Have any fellow geekers come across this issue?
  2. Sometimes the answer (or workaround! ) is staring you in the face....! cheers, will install one app first :-) annoyingly I've got about 100 iPads left to do
  3. I'm currently setting up iPads for our Year 7 group (1:1 project) and have suddenly come across the annoying T&Cs have changed nightmare. The iPads are setup using configurator and Meraki, as soon as the apps start downloading I'm prompted to accept the new T&Cs which would be fine if it was just 1 app, but we have a lot more installing and it wants me to accept for every one of them! Has anyone else experienced this? If so how did you get around it? The iPads seem to get a bit onfused and I can't actually accept every one of the T&Cs windows as they don't actually load, and the apps don't download, at best one or two do. Another iPad hell story.....
  4. Thank you! It was there in front of me all the time! While I'm at it I'll remove the erotica settings as well, no reading 50 shades for our kids!
  5. We're about to deploy iPads to all our year 7 pupils (joy!). All iPads are supervised using configurator and Meraki and have individual Apple IDs. I've been told it's possible to prevent removal of the Apple ID from the iPad, but I can't find out how to do this - is it possible!?
  6. Hi all, on average how long does it take for Apple to Whitelist your IP/domain to allow more than 10 Apple IDs to be created? When I contacted them from the VPP site I had a quick reply back asking for details which I responded straight back to, but it's been a few days now and I'm under pressure form the powers that be to get IDs sorted... Also, has anyone had any luck with bulk creation tools on Mavericks? I've found one or two for earlier versions of OSX bu tmy Applescript knowledge is non existent so getting them to work on Mavericks is going to be a struggle for me! Cheers
  7. We use PRM Greentech

  9. Funniest thing I've seen in a long time!
  10. Hi all, I've been tasked with looking into a 1 to 1 solution for our school, are any schools on here looking into, or using, Windows tablets? It's not too hard to find iPad 1:1 schools but Windows is proving difficult. So far I've only found the Churchill Academy who are trialling them, they were kind enough tom eet with us yesterday to talk through their progress so far but it would be great to talk to others as well. Thank!
  11. Coffee works for me!
  12. You need to enable the local group policy service and then set in Local computer group policy object > user config > admin templates > Windows components > Store > Turn off the store application
  13. Aargh! Anyone any solutions for this. I've found the policy to completely disable the store, but I ideally only want to stop pupils downloading apps, but the apps we do have installed (only Zinio at the moment) to still be able to update.
  14. I've just come up against the same problem! Have you come up with a solution yet? Thankfully I've only got 19 to install one app on for pupils so it won't be a major headache this time, but in the future it could be!
  15. @sted You are the man! Against my advice we have bought a load of the RTs, and I was scratching my head as to how to map drives for pupils via a batch file - you just made these things a whole lot more useful now! Shame we don't have intune to manage them though.....
  16. That gave me a well needed laugh!

    Hwb

September for us. @3s-gtech Thanks for the link, that's more info than I've seen so far! And your point about net connection is very valid, it's my major concern. And my first attempt at posting this failed as our LA's proxy server wasn't responding!

    35 !!

ah ha, that's Cumulus you're running isn't it!? When my weather station was up and running I used it, great piece of software - and free! I never found an ideal location for the station when we moved house, it was always reading too high

    Hwb

Does anyone have a definitive list of what is offered by the Hwb? We're looking at server replacements here, but I need to check out what is offered by the Hwb so we can see what can be offloaded there - i.e. user storage, shared areas (perhaps via SharePoint?), etc
  20. we have three here (had them for a few months) for email Internet and Office use and they do the job very well.
  21. I've been informed we're delivering the IFS personal finance course from September, as a result I'm going to need to install their e-test software. Has anyone got this running on Multipoint Server or RDS? Multipoint is my preferred option for the room that will be used for this rather than PCs. I have rung IFS but I'm not convinced the guy I spoke to knew what I was asking, and just told me I needed PCs to cover himself!
  22. I get them in my email every morning, just to brighten up the morning, agree this one is worryingly too appropriate!
  23. We have a KM MFD setup outside of PCounter and if you don't put the password in for user 'account track' it just drops the job, are your KMs setup this way?
  24. Have a look here You need to use RSAT on Windows 8 (or server 2012) to get the IE 10 preferences. The link also points out a gotcha that caught myself and others out when using the preference!
