Thanks guys! I was having the same problem, I had already tried the options mentioned by qphs and FN-GM - but not at the same time. Doing that resolved the issue here.

We've just gone over to backup to disk using a 4TB NAS box. However I will still be backing up to tape over the weekend as I'm still like the idea of having offline tapes! The only issue being in the future that our 8 bay Fujitsu autoloader only seems to support LTO2, not a problem at the moment as I have only provisioned 2TB of space on our SAN, but when the time comes to increase that to the 4TB it actually has I'll need a new tape solution......

Just be aware that the Blackberry is not a provisionable device so doesn't comply with any activesync settings you have

Pah! Who needs a van. My Yaris is like a tardis when it comes to gigmobiles, 400W bass amp, bass guitar, bag of goodies, two 400W powered speakers, stage piano, piano stool, piano stand, boxes,etc. It amazed me the first time I did it! Rear view mirror becomes redundant though!!

There's the issue! I first worked in education IT 10-11 years ago, (before going to business and then back to education) things don't even compare now, back then I was not much more than a toner drone, and whilst this is generalising a lot I think that was the case for a lot of schools, now you need a very broad range of in depth skills - technical and personal!

You can use the same licences - or at least that's what I've been told and have been doing for a while now! The unfortunate thing is you can't migrate the licences if installed on 2008 or prior O/S but have to reactivate with the Clearing House on reinstall of the license server, which is what I will find myself doing next week. If you're not reinstalling the license server then the last bit doesn't apply to you! Apparently if RDS licensing is installed on 2008R2 then you can now migrate to a new licensing server

On server 2003 you can go into Computer management > Shared folders > open files and disconnect the file in there. I don't know where this is in 2008 as our file server is 2003....

Last night was the retirement do for our Head of RE, as he's a keen sailor it was held in the Mumbles Yacht Club where he's a member, right by the RNLI station... For those of us interested he lined up an hour out in the bay on a yacht, RIB and the Mumbles lifeboat! What an amazing experience it was, and what a top bloke he is! I'm still buzzing from the adrenaline rush!

The best conversation I had was with AOL support. A colleague was having a problem with his home broadband so I took a look, when on the phone the AOL tech guy asked what network card the PC had, when I said a Realtek 8139 (pretty sure it was that model!) he said we don't support that. I politely pointed out that it was a rather common onboard NIC.... He then agreed to continue with the diagnostics!

We use labels from Dantech with school name, postcode and asset number. The latest ones we had are like the MS COA labels in that they are extremely difficult to get off and split rather than peel off if someone attempts to remove them.

I've got Lenny running on 2008 Hyper-V. I'd forgotten all about it until I read this, I set up Koha on it but it's never been used. I believe the only issue I had was mouse support. Just checked and it's been up for 80 days by the look of it, which must mean that the host server is long overdue a reboot......

Even for those not scared of heights it's scary! I remember standing on the back of the narrowboat when going over it and looking down below, it most definitely makes you double check you have a firm grip on the boat! As a child I spent many years on the Mon and Brec, it's very pretty and very few locks so plenty of cruising can be done! Another highly recommended waterway is the River Avon from Tewkesbury to Stratford, there's plenty of towns along the way and a days cruise generally gets you from one to the other (or read pub to pub!) I'm not sure of prices, but I know boats aren't cheap to hire unless you're splitting the cost several ways!
