This is due to this weeks patch Tuesday update KB5000802 and KB5000808 I've seen reported as causing this issue with certain printers. Mostly Kyocera models. I've checked out systems neither of these patchs are installed, also approved removed from WSUS but still having the issue.

We've been having on and off issues now for a good couple of months regarding Papercut. Users who get charged directly to a single department are fine but those required to select which department for the job on the Papercut popup have been struggling. The papercut client is ran from the print server at login, we even have a delayed login script checking if its running then launching it again if required. Some users will print fine then half an hour later be unable to, papercut will stop popping up for the department selection but still show as running in the task bar. Some times the pcclient.exe will of stopped running other times its still running but needs to be killed and relaunched in order to resume regular printing. Event logs show no clues and running papercut in debug mode doesn't help as the logs just stop with no unusual activity or errors. We are running Version: 17.4.4 (Build 42562) with the zero-install method. We have some users which kept having the issue running the client locally installed, these still get the same issue.

Had a go at this the registry entry didnt work, the GPO disabled commands and shortcuts but I still had the underline red for incorrect spelling. Easy fix download the admx for Office 2007 which has a GPO already in place under Word>Proofing>Check spelling as you type which 2013 and 2016 work with. Why Microsoft removed this on 2010, 2013 and 16 I've no idea

Digging out some old software here! I've been asked to look at deploying Macromedia 2004 Suite to a few rooms which have recently been moved to Windows 10 and Macromedia not included as part of the image. Any advise on deploying this via GPO as no MSI is provided, never tried capturing an MSI on Windows 10 either but with the amount of background stuff going on with 10 I imagine its not ideal. IMO 13 year old software is probably past its sale by date but hey ho.

Good to see some major freight companies getting behind this including DHL, Walmart, J.B Hunt and others now at over 200 orders for a truck thats untested and not out for another 2 years. Added .bbc.co.uk and .bbci.co.uk to the do not cache and restarted the proxy with a clear cache which didn't resolve the issue. I then just set caching to 0 and restarted the proxy again which seemed to resolve it, odd!

Bizarre , it displays fine for authenticated users but transparent it doesn't load any content. Smoothwalls live logs show nothing blocked, policy tester shows it as accessible for both an Unauthenticated IP and a user with the same web filter policy being applied. The only difference is no HTTPS inspection on the authenticated users which only has a Web Search HTTPS inspect enabled. Would an admin mind moving this to the correct section now its looking to be more a filter issue? Thanks

Just wondered if its everyone as I've not found any reliable sources to confirm it but the BBC News website currently seems to be mostly down or at least the bbci.co.uk domain hosting their images and css. Getting page cannot be found on a computer in our Smoothwalls but no issues on ANY other sites.

We also use folder redirection, the "Remove common program groups from Start Menu" was enabled but has now been disabled, the broken tile no longer shows however I still only get the Photos and Edge tile Heres out current Student Start Menu GPO settings applied to my test account:

Having rolled out Windows 10 Edu 1703 in the Summer using classic shell we ended up removing classic shell to prevent lockups and delayed start menus. Strange issue here we have a room of 31 computers on windows 10 which for the most part work down however we’ve had multiple reports over a few weeks from teachers of freezing. The most common scenario seems to be the whole class are asked to open a file from the student shared area in the case I witnessed Word documents they only have read access to. About 6 opened fine but the rest either had word stop responding, word saying ‘opening file’ and some just having file explorers bar show the loading blue bar repeatedly for about 5 minutes. I’ve tried to replicate the issue logging every PC in the room and highlighting the same document they had issues with. Myself and two other staff quickly opened the file on every computer and only 3 failed to open it but the 2nd time a few seconds later worked fine. We’ve only had this since moving to 10 and and only reports of this room so far. They’re all wired to a HP switch same Vlan however the switch does have only a 1GB connection to the core. No other users seemed to have issues at the same time elsewhere and I was able to access the same resources instant while theirs were still freezing 🤔

Having a rather strange issue, we have rolled windows 10 to several different devices but one model is proving difficult, around 15 STONE 1210 computers. We have the smaller size version from STONE and a few versions of Intel NUCs with no issue. When booted from cold no NIC is detected, logging on locally the NIC doesn't appear in the network adaptors menu and device manager shows it however when looking in properties the latest Intel driver says uninstalled or not available. 85% of the time when I reboot following the first cold boot it picks up the NIC straight away. I've installed the latest's Intel 82579 drivers to see if this resolved the issue (drivers previous downloaded from STONES website) but no difference. NIC was set to not sleep, BIOS has no generalise fast boot etc enabled either.

Offline files has been configured and works fine with Windows 7 but doesn't seem to for 10 but I can't find what needs changing. Just one problem I'm looking to accomplish two things: Remove all Shutdown menu items besides Shutdown Restart and Logoff (GPO and GUI only have this option for Windows 7 style) Remove RUN (GPO and Gui only have this option for Windows classic mode) So its either loose 1 feature or the other depending on which style we go for unless anyone here has accomplished this with a registry setting?

Ah I haven't yet, following the sysprep I just looked at the default profile size and thought thats no good! Will give the copy to a go today!
