Afternoon All, Over the past year some of our staff have been using OneNote to send students work, at one point they were using the Office 2021 version but found that clunky so switched to the Built in Windows 10 App version, however lately they inform me that the distribution from their teacher PCs to the Students has been patchy, some kids get the workbook, some don't or some receive it way after the lesson is over, I have done some basic troubleshooting (reinstalling the app, re-imaging the pc etc) but its not helped, I have looked online and the consensus seems to be that distribution through the app is hit and miss in general, I just wanted to ask if this was anyone else's experience at all? Please let me know Cheers

I would like to remove the following : Access to the Settings Application Remove Settings from the Start Menu Disable First Logon Screen for All users Let me know if you know of anyway to do this using GPO's or Scripts , desperately trying to get a test Win 10 image together in the next couple of weeks. Thanks in advance

My network manager has posted on another site this very weird problem we are having: "Hi all, I'm mostly just thinking out loud here but would really appreciate any thoughts. Since Monday 25 Feb a handful (8 out of 250) users have been experiencing an issue opening Office files (Word, Excel and Powerpoint) from a network share. The share in question their network home folder, to which their Documents folder has been redirected. If Office files are opened from other network drives (mappings) or shares (UNC paths) then the problem does not present itself. The error is 'sorry, we couldn't find \\server\path\file name is it possible it was moved, renamed or deleted. However, attempting to open the file again, immediately after receiving the error, will allow the file to be opened. The clients are all Windows 10 1803. They are either using Office 2016 Pro Plus or Office 365 Pro Plus, no permissions have changed on the network share and the users can browse the entire path. If I move their docs back to local machine and then 'move' to OneDrive client the problem disappears. Long-term this will be the strategy but moving 250 users redirected files and folders isn't an overnight option. Has anyone else come across this? Recently or at all?" So, since this initial post the users affected count has increased and in some instances a user can attempt to open the file up to 8 times (so far reported) before it will open. The moving of files to OneDrive also seems to have only worked for a while and for some users that the setting is applied to. A logged DCOM error in Event Viewer was investigated that presented at the same time as the file access but this also only temporarily or did not resolve the issue. Any help, pointers or similar experiences welcome.

Hi all, Having a problem with our current windows 10 deployment. Hoping to find some help but not had any luck searching via google. We have a theme that is applied on a user's first login via GPO. Users do not have the rights to adjust the current theme or apply their own theme. When a user turns on 'high-contrast' they are unable to turn it back off again. I think this is because they do not have permission to apply any themeing. This user ends up stuck forever with high-contrast enabled. After the high-contrast user logs out or restarts the high-contrast theme stays applied to the login screen, and also applies itself to the next user to log in. The only way to clear the theme for subsequent users is to log in as administrator and apply a default windows theme the only way to clear high-contrast theme from the original user that set it is to delete that user's local profile. Can anyone help me figure out how to allow users to independently toggle high-contrast on and off, even when the user has no permissions to apply themes, and to prevent high-contrast effecting subsequent users? If a user decides to log in to a bunch of workstations and set high-contrast then it is going to be a stupid amount of work to get them all reverted. Thanks for any help you may be able to offer.

I have managed to lock down the windows start menu searches with the user of cortana and the internet But I have one last niggly issue.... If I log on as a student click the windows start menu icon - start typing windows searches the local computer and displays a long list of results. Although I have pretty much locked all the apps down it is still frustrating they are able to do this. Has anyone managed to find a work around group policy for this issue?

Currently going through the process of creating mandatory profiles for students before rolling out Windows 10 this summer, so far I've stripped out most the Provisional packages from the image and removed those originally deployed to the administrator, I've created the unattended.xml required and ran the sysprep to create the new default profile but I'm still getting 200Mbish! Over 50Mb was just Onedrive app files which I manually deleted without any noticeable side effects. Having read several articles on here on large profiles with Win10 I was wondering what sort of acceptable size people had managed and if possible some details on how you achieved this? Edit: Should add we are using Win10 Education

Hi, We are looking at upgrading all of our PC's to Windows 10. I was just wondering what is the easiest way to do this? Can we deploy it from a server to all of the client machines? We are currently on Win7 Pro and want to upgrade to Win10 pro. Thanks
