FN-GM Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Morning, Has anyone else in the Nothwest not managed to get into work this morning because of the snow. There is around 5 inches fallen with no grit. got half way to work and abandoned it. School is closed today anyway. Oh lovely!
mullet_man Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Party time, we are closed today. Hoping for more snow tonight so we get tomorrow off as well:D
RabbieBurns Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 we've not had a good dump up here in a long time. Winters are definately getting a lot more milder. In fact, there's been more sun the last week here than there was all summer.
krisd32 Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 not enough snow for school to shut up my neck of the woods but enough to make everybody drive at 5 miles an hour which really infuriates me. especially when there isn't even any on the roads!!!!
jcollings Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 We've got a fair amount of snow but are still open. About a 1/3rd of the staff off. It really hacks me off - the snowfall we get is tiny and people can't manage to drive a few miles to work!
rolfea Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Sun here then rain then sun then rain then sleet then sun I hate snow.
broc Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Not so bad in the North East (near the coast). Light dusting of snow on top of ice caused by rain last night followed by freezing temperature. Very slippery, caretakers at school spreading salt/grit all over. Sunny at the moment....
WithoutMotive Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Seems to have bypassed us here in Wigan. Frosty this morning and a bit slushy but the sun's out now. Supposed to be the same again tomorrow, apparently.
Dos_Box Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Frozen slush in Preston. We are a bit to low level for a good fall, it has been giving a few good flurries in Chorley however. More tonight I think. *Many silly people driving at 2mph on the way to work on perfectly clear roads though. It's as if they expect the ice from the fields to suddenly run out and dive under their wheels!

It really hacks me off - the snowfall we get is tiny and people can't manage to drive a few miles to work! Completely agree, had a very nice 1ft covering in the dales this morning, and didn't really clear or get much above 40mph until I hit the A590, and even that was a bit patchy in places where it hasn't been cleared enough. No real snow here in the lakes though, my car has more than the rest of the campus put together I think! Although saying that we have just had a nice snow shower.
localzuk Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I live in 'boring weathers-ville'. ie. rain is pretty much it for us. I'd love some snow, even if I still had to work (I live 10minutes from school, by foot). But alas, it is not going to happen.
Newton Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 No Snow here just Ice!! just has to shoo Torvill and Dean out of the car park.
Edu-IT Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 we've not had a good dump up here in a long time. We're talking about snow! Leave your toilet discussion for elsewhere please.
elsiegee40 Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 It's a beautiful day here... a little chilly, but I'm not complaining. The view from the nearest window:view.bmp
Hightower Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 We were due Snow up here in the NE but it hasn't arrived yet, and judging the sky (like Crocodile Dundee) we're not going to get any. Makes me happy as larry because snow is no good for anything. It's just a waste of our time.
cromertech Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Just started snowing here. Not sure there will be enough to send everyone home though. could do with another day off that long weekend we just had just tired me out more
tom_newton Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Not much of note here in Leeds. Some Audi-driving turnip (not one of our lot) has gone over some vegetation in the car park, and left particularly entertaining skid marks!
broc Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Some Audi-driving turnip (not one of our lot) has gone over some vegetation in the car park, and left particularly entertaining skid marks! I read somewhere recently that Audi drivers have taken over from BMW drivers when it comes to driving aggressively, tail-gating, being a stereotypical prat etc. Maybe it's true.....
harrno Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 The sky at Stansted is the same as always, grey, overcast, wet. I think it's been this way for years, never any sun. We don't have snow - just a heavy frost which brings the M11 and A120 to a complete halt. I think the weather dictates your mood. Moan, whinge, grizzle... Give me the NE anyday... it may be cold but at least its changeable.

Need some humor for the day Oh and as for the Audi man has taken over from BMW man, I resent that remark, nothing wrong with Audi drivers (fine I haven't got mine just yet but I'm getting there!!) TBH what ever car they are in they will be a twitt if they want to be. Anyway back to snow, still no snow here in the south lakes
Pyroman Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I read somewhere recently that Audi drivers have taken over from BMW drivers when it comes to driving aggressively, tail-gating, being a stereotypical prat etc. Maybe it's true..... It was sundays top gear
tom_newton Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I think we need some pics!! Need some humor for the day I'll ask if any of the sales guys snapped a pic - amusing tracks have melted!
