Something that'll let you manually control the exposure, which shouldn't be a problem. .....and someone competent to operate it, good luck with that. I would also look for a camera that'll take an external mic. Or if you don't mind a bit more work get an external recorder and a decent mic then mix the results together.

Depending on which version of VMware you have you might be able to use VMWare Consolidated Backup. I've used this for a while and it works well. But if I wasn't about to leave I'd be having a look at this; Free virtual machine backup - Veeam Backup

Just bare mind mind scripting work fine for JPEGs. But if you're teaching photography you need to allow for RAW files and photoshop files. Both of which can be eye wateringly massive.

Have you got any polices that run start up scripts. If so check through them carefully and make sure they're not pointing at a script on the older server. Same with user's logon scripts.

I've got a friend who used to insist on walking around with some round his neck at all times. This, unless they're both in a bit of a state I would use one of your existing domains as a basis. You could also do this with trusts, but a single domain will result in a more manageable system. EDIT: What's the time scale?

If they're the currently logged on user HKEY_Users\ is the same as HKCU\. Could you just add reg delete line to their log on scripts or use GPP.

Run it on System startup, not log on. And setup wake on lan for classroom PCs so they come on about 10 minutes before the start of the school day. But if it's takes more then a few seconds I would suspect there's an issue with on of your packages. Have a look through the event viewer for WSH errors.

Right, have a look in c:\program files and see if there's a movie maker folder. If there is then all you need to do is make a shortcut to Moviemk.exe and place this in the start menu. It should be fairly easy to automate.

I think there's a GPO that disables Movie Maker, or it might just be that someone has deleted the shortcuts (I've done this on our network). I wouldn't recommend using Movie Maker, it's very picky about video formats. It's also not very powerful and doesn't use timetimes. If you can afford it get Serif Movie Maker or Sony Vegas (I've only used this in a domestic setting so make sure it works well in a school environment before ordering).

Fire up regedit, goto HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WIndows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall and then search for sibelius. There will be an entry for it. Once you've found it you can look up the uninstall string with any luck this can easily be adapted to give a silent uninstall that can be used in a script.
