elsiegee40 Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I grew up in Yorkshire so am used to 'proper' snow... I nearly died laughing when I saw this story Snow leaves winter wonderland across Kent in the Kent Messenger last Friday. Sorry, but I cannot count this as snow!
Guest Guest Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I grew up in Yorkshire so am used to 'proper' snow... I nearly died laughing when I saw this story Snow leaves winter wonderland across Kent in the Kent Messenger last Friday. Sorry, but I cannot count this as snow! Shut up, thats atleast a good 5 or 6 inches that is! lmao My cousins live in Torquey and my uncle is sick of telling them taht just because something is falling from the sky and its abit colder than normal rain doesnt mean its "snowing", nevermind actually laying.
elsiegee40 Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Ive seen dandruff worse than that It must have been Kent's turn for the gritter when that happened as we didn't have chaos on the roads! (I swear there is only one gritter shared between Kent, East & West sussex and Surrey)
LeMarchand Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I read somewhere recently that Audi drivers have taken over from BMW drivers when it comes to driving aggressively, tail-gating, being a stereotypical prat etc. Maybe it's true..... My soon-to-be-published scientific paper has uncovered some startling information about German marques. Towards the end of WWII, some of the foremost Nazi scientists saw that the tide was turning and came up with a new plan for the continuation of the Third Reich. Using parts of Mengeles' cloning experiments along with conventional science and occult research, they found a way to distil the essence of Hitler's soul and place it into a car. The Reich would be born through stealth, as the drivers of the cars would slowly be possessed by Der Fuhrer. The majority of scientists on the project went to BMW, others to Mercedes and some to Audi. A very few went to Volkswagen. (It was generally felt that, given Hitler's part in the company's inception, that it would be too obvious should drivers of VWs all start acting like Adolf). This spread explains the traditional differences in drivers across the 4 marques: Braindead Moron Wagon: complete and utter Hitlers Mercedes: utter Hitlers Audi: Hitlers VW: occasionally Hitlerish Obviously, the odd manufacturing fault or strong-willed driver means that not all drivers fall under the influence. Since the war the different groups have grown apart, and started to develop their own variations on the process - it may be that Audi's engineers have developed a more efficient way to allow the soul-clone to infect the driver in the past few years. Those that doubt this need look no further than Audi's own slogan, 'Vorsprung durch technik'. They have convinced the world that it means 'progress through technology', but if one breaks down the phrase it shows the truly fiendish plan the Nazi scientists have hatched. Vorsprung, literally 'that which came from before' Durch, future perfect 'shall be made dark' Technik, 'though technology' So we get 'that which has come before shall be made dark through technology'. A less literal translation would be: 'Our science will wipe you from history' . (With apologies to any Edugeekers with German cars - you're obviously far too strong-willed to be possessed by Hitler).
Sirbendy Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 We had some light dusting overnight...and the roads were a tad slippy this morning, but..that's it. So far anyway. Bit nippy last night mind you, we were both sat in front of the fire. Bloody amateur installed laminate flooring with no insulating layer...brr...in my little computer roon, I've had to electrical tape the gap between the skirting and the floor to seal it until I can get some silicone..the wind hits that wall, and the garage is underneath..brrrrr....

Guest Guest Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 (I swear there is only one gritter shared between Kent, East & West sussex and Surrey) Thats because only one snow flake falls on Kent, East & West sussex and Surrey per year.
rsarg Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Here in stoke we keep avin snow then sun so it melts then snow again i hope the football is still on
elsiegee40 Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Thats because only one snow flake falls on Kent, East & West sussex and Surrey per year. No, No! You're wrong! I'm sure I could count at least 5 on those Kent Messenger photos!
mrcrazy04 Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 We have about 2 inches of snow here in Dundee, which in Bedfordshire would close the schools due to buses not running. Despite the roads being covered with snow (despite the grit) earlier, the buses are running as usual, and it looks like nobody really cares. I'm now just waiting for the pavement snow plough to go past.
pete Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 It was "cover the front of pete in white" while walking to work, but now the sun is out. Was hoping for a snow day so I could get some infrastructure upgrades done.
Guest Guest Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I'm now just waiting for the pavement snow plough to go past. A what? Ive never heard of one of those before! How cool! lmao
john Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I like my german cars, great vehicles and a high quality build in them.

Singist Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 2 inches here at Westhoughton, Bolton. I was stranded for 3 hours on the same lane. I abandoned car and walked home, went back for it later, then set back off for again. Got here at 12.15. Other countries deal with the white stuff day in day out, why can't we? And if you've never driven in it or don't how to, why get in your car in the first place and cause chaos for those of us who can drive in it?
ChrisH Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Got the call at 7:10 that the school was closed. Its not very deep here but it is resisting all the grit! Suppose to be ok tommorow but then heavier snow that today on Thursday!
mrcrazy04 Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Yours are nice and clear. Ours roads where thick with it this morning. I am just nipping round the corner to see what its like That's a photo from when it snowed a couple of weeks ago - the roads weren't that clear today - but they were getting there. The only reason our road is clear is because it's a bus route, so gets gritted. At 2am the snow had covered the road completely (despite it being gritted).
Gatt Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 (edited) Middleton, near Rochdale was white - abut 2 ft i reckon.. Roads had not seen any gritters at all overnight so snow all over the place including the main drag from Rochdale to Manchester.. Bus finally arrived at about 7:20 due to a jack-knifed lorry further down from where I was.. (Usually its 6:10 - so already late for work!) By 8:15 I had gone the amazing distance of.... 1 Mile! (Blackley) traffic wasn't moving at all by this point - it was nose to tail all the way into Manchester.. So I abandonded Bus.. Phoned the school and said i'll be using the VPN due to conditions on the road It took me 30 mins to walk the distance I had just come! Pics Uploaded First one is Of Main Road where the bus stop is - about 10 mins after this was taken it was nose to tail in traffic - and the bus arrived The others are of DJ in the garden Edited December 2, 2008 by Gatt Pics..
