    Thanks for all your help mrwoberts, really appreciate it. I'm going to look to buy 2x 4GB sticks for the Corsair XMS3 at 1333MHz. I know this definitely works with my MoBo, checked the compatability and it's a safe speed too. To be honest, I never knew different RAM was compatible with different MoBos otherwise I could have avoided the this problem. The GSkill RAM will end up on eBay or saved for another project one rainy day. I can't ask my brother to return the second set at risk of me looking to much like a ginch. I used to think I could do this hardware thing, back to the exercsie books I go!

    It was a christmas present from a brother who "knew" what he was doing The PC Doesn't pass POST with one stick, it just loops. Doesn't even go into BIOS. Can I try the above with two?

    I have the latest (F11) BIOS already (sorry should have mentioned before), I believe I have the rev 2.0. Although the only difference I can see if the LAN Chipset. Mine doesn't match the one on the website (device manager showing a RTL8168E chip)

    It's exactly the same when the RAM is set to the old timings, which is making me think that I just need to use RAM which used 1333MHz timings and not depending on the MoBo's settings. Just wanted to try and future proof atleast as much as I can with a slightly higher spec of RAM. XMP isn't enabled, and like you say everything is auto to try and get the compatability to work. Memtest didn't even run, trying one stick at a time also doesn't work but that would be that the processor needs the dual channels.

    Technically no, but this is the second set of RAM I've recieved. I thought this could be the case and sent one lot back. Second lot does the same. Unfortunately as it's my home PC I've only got the one to try it on. I have, it's boots up perfectly.

    Hi All, Hope you don't mind me posting a personal post here, rather than educational, but I'm crazily puzzled. I've recently upgraded my PC from Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 10 Pro. This went perfectly and all was great. I was running 2x 2GB DDR3 1333Mhz in a Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3 Motherboard. I have a Intel Core i5 661 3.33G s1156 processor on it. It's pretty old but was running pefectly. I then went to upgrade my RAM and then all sorts of trouble started. The RAM I'm trying to upgrade to is 2x 4GB DDR 1600Mhz, same motherboard and same processor. I've changed the motherboard's BIOS profile to use 1600Mhz for the RAM. Unfortunately now the operating system can't boot. It's recieved a nice blue screen with an unhappy face and numerous error messages. The error messages I've had so far are: PFN_List_Corrupt Kernal_Security_Check_Failure IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL I've tried Googling all of these, I've removed all USB connect devices that aren't nessessary and all sorted of BIOS settings but all to no avail. Anybody able to shed some light on where I may be going wrong please? Many Thanks, Andy

    I wanted to bump start this thread again, purely because I'm in the exact same boat. I can see the route I want to go, what courses I want to do (MCSA or MCSE towards Server Infrastructure). I was just wondering what the best way of going about it is? And what other people have done before? To expand my thoughts a little: It seems as though training centres for qualified certifications are very thin around where I am (Herefordshire), even when looking towards Birmingham. I prefer tutor based and hands on based learning; I like to be able to ask stupid questions and actually do it rather than trying to learn across an internet delivered course (although I'm not disregarding the online options). Has anyone been through this and who did they use / how did they find the courses? I was also wondering if anyone has completed courses with a certified trainer, but not giving you a certification (I believe NEOS IT do this kind of thing if I remember correctly) then taking an exam afterwards? And how well this has gone? I'd love to get some experiences that some others have had and gone though?

    I'm surprised Portal hasn't popped up in here.. I love both the games so much. I think it's the dark humor of GLaDOS that I love the most, and then the idea of cute turrets that could kill you is beautiful...

    I switched back to Firefox last week. I have no idea why, but Chrome had about 170 processes running. So that got uninstalled and Firefox got updated. I must say, it's sleek, smooth and fast at the moment. I got so used to using Chrome's Omnibar that I can't live without it now, and Firefox's URL bar seems to be able to do it too (to a certain extent) so I'm happy.

    We don't use fast user switching on the student log ins. It's been happening from a fresh boot, also. Have you noticed it purely when using fast user switching on TS's?

    Hi All, I'm unsure if this belongs in Educational Software, or whether it's a fault with Impero or Windows. I have noticed in the event logs on some of our laptops on site that multiple instances of the following error occurs: "Event 7031, Service Control Manager The Impero Client SVC service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Restart the service" Even though it says it has done this 1 time(s), it'll repeat itself several times during a boot. It's running in Win7 Pro. Has anyone seen this error message before and known what's causing it, or how to reduce it's occurrence? Many thanks.

    I've been riding with big chunky platforms for years.. My dirt jump bike doubles up as my commute bike (it's either that or a big suspension downhill bike) The amount of times I've slipped the front wheel out on a wet drain cover and saved myself; I could never consider clips.

One last question, I should hope (I really am new to this, just want to make sure everything goes right) I'm thinking of using this kit: Scan.co.uk: 5060175581082 - XSPC X2O 750 Dual Complete WaterCooling Kit for AMD and Intel CPU's with this gfx block: Scan.co.uk: 3831109835173 - EK-FC5770 - White Acetal the kit used 7/18" tubing and the block uses a 1/4" thread. So this might be a really stupid question, but all the hose fittings seem to be 1/4" thread to 1/2" or 3/8". Is it the 3/8" i need or am I specifically looking for 7/18" fittings?
