[ipad] How on earth do you deploy ibooks with Impero Edlink?
Pyroman replied to Pyroman's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Thank you both! I did think I was missing something, turns out it's Edlink missing something!!! Looks like we're in the market for a new MDM provider then! How easy is it to migrate from Edlink to Jamf? (I assume that Jamf would be the best bet?) -
Is there a Site activation code rather than having to create a bunch of email addresses to get individual activation codes please?
-
Amazing! We've got BenQ screens already so this is a great bonus.

I'm trying to deploy books bought through Apple School Manager to devices that are signed in with Managed Apple IDs and I'm getting the following error... I have spoken to Edlink and their response was: What on earth does that mean? I'm signed in with an Apple ID so I'm not sure how I deploy just to an ID and not to the device? Thanks

Long shot, does anyone have the 11.4 msi or a version 10 msi please? I have a version 10 exe but I'm not about to go around and manually install if I don;t have to! Thanks

Walkie Talkie Licensing - Not a legal entity

Heya, we went via Zycomm who were brilliant and we got the license using our local council as the name for the 'legal entity' -
Walkie Talkie Licensing - Not a legal entity
Pyroman replied to Pyroman's topic in Licensing Questions
We ended up getting the license using the council as the legal entity and went for Hytera BD505 radios. They're not cheap but they're ace and we own the frequency so no interference from the workmen regularly fixing the roads outside! -
If you struggle with speed, this tool cleared stuff really quickly: https://github.com/McNetic/fdeltree Not sure if it was any quicker than the Powershell command but I've managed to totally remove the folder now so hoping everything will come back up to full speed. Weirdly Windows updates were broken again Ran the troubleshooter and it fixed "service registration is missing or corrupt" error. It's now trying to download KB5001402 which should have been done in April so not sure why that broke.

10GB of files gone in 16 hours of running the script, no idea how much more to go because it crashed every time I tried to see how many files there were in that folder! Looks like it's gonna have to run all weekend.
-
Thanks for the script I've upped it to 5,000,000 and it's working. slowly. See how we look tomorrow when its run overnight.

I'd be very surprised if Lee and I are both suffering loopbacks but I'll give anything a shot at the moment. When the server locks up I can't even use it locally with Mouse & KB until it decides to wake up again.
-
Yeah straight Server 2016

Nothing out of the ordinary apart from what has been reported in this thread....

Do the other server with no symptoms have Defender installed as a feature even if it's off? From the reddit thread, can you see if this folder is absolutely chocker on both the affected and non-affected servers?

We were doing alright until 1pm where everything has completely bogged down but I haven't had a chance to restart yet. To be fair, I've been trying to get cmd up for the last 15 minutes but the start menu keeps freezing so I can't open it to do a restart!! My Shadow copy routine starts for a local mid-day restore point for files at 1pm which might be a correlation for the server slowdown. I haven't confirmed that's a cause or symptom but it's worth noting. We use Veeam to do a bare-metal full backup every night to external USB and use Redstor to do a 'critial files offsite' backup every night.
-
Do you have Windows Defender installed as a feature on those servers? When I came in this morning, Windows Defender was mid way through a scan, I stopped that and the server immediately stopped hanging. I've just uninstalled the Feature in Roles & Features and I'm just waiting for a good time to restart.
-
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand we're back to the printers falling over but they definitely have the correct config so this must be a server slow down issue The server is back to being incredibly slow, only thing that runs overnight is Redstor backup and Veeam backup.
-
Yeah that was a real spanner in the works, broke one thing trying to fix another thing. Spent hours trying to work that one out before we realised that the 169 address wasn't in fact a 'can't find the network' address.
-
Unfortunately not, I've got teamviewer on there and I noticed above reader got installed via an update on Friday so I've removed that. Managed to fix the Windows updates issue (I think) by using the Windows update troubleshooter after every other way of fixing it didn't work

@Leemanator We've got the H300 Perc Drives are just mirrored Toshiba 4TB drives So it turns out Papercut was a total red herring. I haven't previously had iDRAC installed on the server and installed it on Monday. This caused papercut to think that the virtual adapter it created was the main NIC so it pushed out a configuration to the printers to phone home to a 169.254.0.2 address. Which is the iDRAC virtual card. I rang our Papercut support people yesterday and they said it was the server slowdown causing the issue and not papercut and left it at that. After another call with them today they found the IP issue and forced paperxut to use an alternate IP (what it should have been) and that config pushed out and fixed the printer issue. I'm having issues with windows updates failing and windows defender also throwing an error code and wonder if that's what's causing it. We have sophos installed as well on the server so that's a correlation between us.

As far as I can see, yesah they're running, I've just restarted the services and worked on this until about 2am last night so will let you know when I get in this morning!
