Once you have these USB sticks you will have to set up encryption on them if you expect teachers / staff to carry data around with them. The Becta guidance documents have a good guide to doing this with TrueCrpyt.

Sounds more like a challenge to me... Also mentions something to do with channel partners so I assume it has an autorun style item on it that will download advertising or suchlike, but then if it is wiped its not going to do that!

I've sent for one anyway, to see how much I get spammed or if they are any good before I let the teachers know about them.

This was because my local supplier has upped the price of the 1Gb sticks.. grr.. from £3.09 to £3.38. Hopefully they'll do the hard work, and discover if they get spammed to death.

The mass email was sent to all our staff right now but as the saying goes about free lunches I am inclined to prevent them doing it. What is the real catch? EDIT: They have no privacy policy. They say they wont spam via email but who knows what comes via phone. You MUST enter a number to join.

From their website, the company running the memory4teachers promotion, RGS Media Group, are a marketing company who's remit is to promote other companies that want to sell stuff in the educational arena, rather than being a provider of educational resources to schools or LEA's themselves. As Zero Hour says...there's no such thing as a free lunch... I agree...brace for unsolicited contact, Captain! 1
Heebeejeebee Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Pah!! 1Gb? I struggle to find space with my two 32Gb ones. I've had a couple of staff ask me about it but since they already have 8Gb sticks and don't really want the expected spamfest that's bound to follow they've passed. HBJB
