It's my last day here in school today and I'd just like to thank you all here for all the information you provide on an daily basis. When I have issues I can't resolve, edugeek is always the first place I look for an answer and most of the time I will find it here. I've been in the education sector for 15 years now but it's time to move on to something new. I'll still be here periodically and who knows I may eventually end up back in education as I've had a cracking time. Thanks again .. Ben

Hi All, I have a strange issue with a member of staff's O365 email account. After 8.30 this morning the user was unable to send email through the office 365 web app. Any emails that she tries to send go straight to the drafts folder and refuse to send at all. She can receive emails fine. I have checked the permissions on the exchange mailbox and they seem ok. I have un-assigned and re-assigned the licence to no avail.. not really sure what there is left to do? Anyone got any ideas?

We literally just have the Internet with them. Even cancelled the "helpdesk" last year. Saved about £2k in doing so

Yes, you can have different policys for different sets of users (staff, Students etc) Most can be edited through he web interface, some its easier and quicker in powershell

Dirsync and ADFS I'll admit though we didn't set it up ourselves, got a local company (who actually do it for Link2ICT anyway) to do it for us. We were migrating from on premise Exchange 2007

We have our own tenancy and have the freedom to do anything we like when we like with regards to setting up groups etc. Ours all syncs with our on prem AD

We have a heater that we have put on a timer to turn on 2 hours before we arrive at 8am. Takes the chill off but its still cold

sorry for digging up a thread thats a a few months old buttttt... having worked in the education for my entire adult life (14 years 3 roles), I now have an interview for a big multinational company on their support desk of sorts. Bit further away from home but £8k pay rise should i get offered the position. Had a video type interview this weekend which was a very odd experience but they now want to meet me next week. Im a bit nervous to be honest as the jump to the big bad private sector does seem daunting, however there are next to no opportunities in my current school for progression and I will be at the top of my pay scale within the next 18 months should i stay here and they don't pay above that for support staff.... Job security isn't certain either as there have been talks around making full time staff term time only. which would mean a pay cut... The role would be more focused on one / two particular pieces of technology which are the 2 that I'm most interested in so would be very transferable to any company rather than the more generalist role that I've occupied for the last 14 years....

Just turned our old sharepoint installation off (finally) It wasn't being used, spoke to SLT who agreed, gave staff 3 months to get their stuff off then turned it off yesterday

We use Impero's confide button, it works well. We also have a form on our website which is only advertised through home access plus (so the kids have to login so we can trace it) which is just a standard web form that emails the DSL

We're just about all SSDs here now. Money is that tight I'm buying refurb machines (Dell C2D, 4GB RAM) for £50 and adding a £35 120GB SSD The machines are a drastic improvement to what's being replaced - look brand new too
