1. Their software runs on a VM syncing with parent pay for us, pretty sure they support pretty much everything going though. Civica is massive with software now and offer so much more on top of catering. I had a demo the other day with a chap showing us the Trust Dashboard which looked fantastic. Yet to see any other provider show this yet, haven't done too much digging.
2. Civica setup, very good.
3. Thank you all Have been away but this is working now with both PDQ Deploy and MDT / PXE.
4. I will test this ... because it was never put on there I had never even considered this. About to go on a few days leave so hopefully get it working when I am back. Thanks for the silly eye opener! https://docs.python.org/3/using/windows.html Found the command line information.
5. Hi, I am updating our programs on SCCM but unfortunately, there are a few programs that only give you the .EXE file. We, unfortunately, do not own the full version of PDQ Deploy... Very cheeky to ask but if anyone owns this then would someone create me an MSI from the latest EXE? Or if knows of freeware that will allow you to complete the entire conversion and take advantage of each setting during the MSI then please share a link. I seriously hate having to install Python to the ICT Suites each time when we used to be able to deploy the old version via the PXE Boot and annoyingly Ninite have not even updated the version they provide. Still only supporting the legacy version of Python. Any help is appreciated, Thanks, Dan
6. Got the policy on there now, tried a different machine. Hooooraaaaayyy it works. Thanks
7. I also tried this: Blocking built-in apps in Windows 10 using Applocker - CCMEXEC.COM – System Center blog Which was doing it via the packaged app area. :S
8. Hi, Please see the image below. To be more specific the 2 policies denying Exam Students. I have tried both blocking the .exe file and the path containing all of the Microsoft Edge files. Also tried C:\Windows\SystemApps\. Unfortunately, W10 being W10, it is being non-functional. Am I missing something? Any help would be greatly appreciated, we are able to block Edge with AB Tutor, for the time being, however, this is not ideal. Thanks, Dan
9. Hi, We have recently rolled out Windows 10 to Classroom PC's after the Admin office trial period going well. All screens have been calibrated and throughout all programs (Word, Lynx, Paint, Photoshop etc), the touch works fine however in PowerPoint if you are on a slideshow and wish to use the pen tool it draws in the wrong area. Has anyone else faced this issue & know a fix for this? All Windows Updates have been completed. This issue is apparent on both builds that have been PXE Booted and via the In-Place upgrade deployment with SCCM 2012. Thanks in advance for any help/advice, Dan Hamilton
10. Hi, I have been trying to setup the Google Drive for Desktop Application, which in theory should be easy peasy. After installing it and logging in, choosing the area to sync with Google Drive, it simply doesn't function properly. OS: Windows 7 Things I have tried: -Tried 2 different Google Accounts -Automatic Proxy & Direct connection -Changing Google Drive to sync a folder and not a "drive" as such. -Restarting the PC -Disconnecting Google account and reconnecting -Signing out of all Google Accounts in the browser + trying all again -Reinstalling Google Drive Desktop App. -I have tried to pause and resume - Provided me with an error and linked to this help page: https://support.google.com/drive/answer/2456903 The issue: All of the files on the web based app sync DOWN to the computer however nothing I put in the folder on the computer will upload to Google Drive. - Forever sits there with the blue syncing icon. If I delete something from the computer, it deletes it from Google Drive. If I delete something from the Google Drive website, it also deletes it from the computer. This is starting to be a real pain so any help is appreciated. Thanks, Dan
11. Hi, Printer: Sharp 3140N AirPrint seems to be very temperamental and usually restarting the service would sort it out. We use EveryonePrint & Equitrac and what should happen is when you are connected to the correct WiFi, you can print via AirPrint and an authentication window pops up and allows you to login using your AD Credentials so you can go pick it up from one of the Sharp Printers. I have tried setting up just one of the printers using the IP Address and different protocols (AirPrint, IPP & LPD) all to see if this changed anything but no luck. From a Mac it completely doesn't work but on an iOS Device it pops up when printing from Safari however I have had reports from others that have said only word works. Strict authentication is enabled which means the login box / auth window should be forced each time and credentials are only cached for 5 minutes. Any help is appreciated
12. If you are creating a generic lunch login for them couldn't you just restrict the applications they can use? E.G No Chrome, No Internet Explorer etc? Allow only Office applications
13. Hi all, I am in the process of setting up a Windows 10 Test PC and I will be applying policies as I go through them. If people want to post their policies too I will add them to this main thread every now and then. Provide tutorial links with your posts if you wish, hopefully with some good input this will help a lot of people (including myself ) Staff Rule sets / Policies Coming soon Student Rule sets / Policies [students] Default Explorer Path - Z:\ All computers -Computer Configuration/Policies/Windows Settings/Scripts/Startup/ - Run flushdns.bat (ipconfig /flushdns) -Computer Configuration/Policies/System/Logon/ - Show first sign-in animation DISABLED -Computer Configuration/Policies/System - Display highly detailed status messages DISABLED Thanks, Dan
14. Hi, I am trying to configure USB DLM (USB Drive Letter Manager - USBDLM). After some trial and error I realised there was some code overwriting anything I was doing and defaulting every USB to a different drive letter. Long story short, the Microbit is now automatically being assigned the drive letter I want it to (K:). Now my next step is to configure group policy to allow Read & Write access to the MicroBit K: Drive. Our current GPO is attached. Unfortunately there is no easy setting in there to do what I want to do. Any help would be much appreciated. - If anyone else uses USB DLM the code I used for the MicroBits is below: Thanks, Dan
