I kind of feel responsible as i posted the link.

like you all we haven't received any memory sticks either.

All i can say is sorry :(

Don't. Memory4Teachers are all over the web promising the world and failing, it's not your fault.

I have forwarded this thread to the account memory4teachers (its email address) for a response so I hope there is one forthcoming as 1 year to wait for a 1gb stick is getting rather nuts....

I notice from their website that they are going to be at BETT 2010 and The Education Show 2010. I wonder how many people will drop by to say hello and where's my bloody pen!?!

Ha, I may be one :)

Not being one to let things lie one of my team sent an email to Memory4Teachers to ask where the free pens are........here's their response:

Dear ?

*

I have been informed that you and your colleagues have not yet received your free memory sticks.

*

I have checked the database and unfortunately due to human error your educational establishment had been actually marked down as in receipt of your sticks.

*

For this I do apologise.

*

I note that there are in fact ? registrations from teachers within your educational establishment.

*

I can clarify that I will ensure that you do receive your free memory sticks within the next 10 days.

*

I will send you an email once they are dispatched.

*

Please also note that we have received an over whelming feedback to this offer and it is taking longer to fully meet the demand.

*

Once again we are sorry for any inconvenience caused and hope that you will be happier once you have received the goods.

*

Please contact me at any time.

*

Best Regards

*

I'd heard of this sort of thing somewhere else previously, and was given a link to it by a teacher in one of my primaries earlier in the year. So, set up an email address specifically for that, and nothing else, providing false details other than the schools name and address. Nothing turned up - circa 6 months ago, but nothing else has come through email either. Wasn't sure myself as I'd read this thread then. Still nothing nasty in the email inbox so that can't be too bad.

Just a FYI we got forwarded a email from a member of staff from "freelaptops4schools.co.uk"

Wonder if its the same lot using the details from the teacher previously as the email had his name in it. Notice this lot promise a entry to a compatition each week rather then batches etc. I wonder if they are linked...

Blocked here anyway now.

EDIT: My boss is just reading the site (laughing) and he says they agree to send at most 1 *targeted* email per day! wow thats nice of them, only one per day..... LOL

After extended email & Telephone exchanges

I have recieved this on 1st December 2009 approx 2 years after registering

I can confirm that I have just packed up your memory sticks personally and they are going out tonight by Recorded Delivery.

Please let me know when you have received them and we can discuss further.

Thanks again

Best Wishes

Project Director

Recieved a package of 40+ 4 gig Pens for distribution on 3rd December 2009

Recieved this back after acknowledging delivery

Thanks for letting me know.

Have you had a chance to use one yet?

What did you think of the memory sticks?

I would also ask if it was possible if you would be prepared to post an entry on Edugeek confirming that you have now received your memory sticks.

If any individuals in the forum have not received theirs then they can contact me and I will arrange delivery for them. Obviously it is hard for me to identify them as they all use different names etc.

In addition we also pay teachers who wish to submit any educational resources that can be used on our Web Channel for other teachers to download to their memory sticks. If any of your colleagues would be interested in this please let me know and I can provide you with further information outlining what we are looking for.

I look forward to hearing back from you and please let me know if you are happy to make a post in the forum.

Best

Today I received my latest email saying "We do hope you are finding your memory stick useful"...

I am sure I will find it useful...if it ever feckin' arrives!

It wasn't a marketing scam ... the idea was to get together a bunch of resources and make them available online, and then encourage other teachers to share things openly, funded by adverts and promotions from selected partners (so yes ... marketing but no scam). They will be at BETT again this year IIRC so you can pick up your USB stick from there and negotiate a better way for your staff to register.

That would be every member of staff at our school then, who all registered within the first week of the scheme launching. Sorry, but I'd consider this a failed scheme and just drop it. Until the goods arrive, it is a scam. If the goods never arrive, then all they've done is harvest marketing info without coming thru on their side of the deal - ie: they supply a memorystick to us by post. Nowhere did it say "go to BETT to pick up your usb sticks". I will do so if they provide the fuel costs.

If not a scam, it's certainly a sham.
