  1. We have this setup for all teaching staff, primarily for coursework and marking issues. No problems data protection wise as far as I know and the staff very rarely cause problems...also takes some of the policing work away from us in terms of inappropriate content.
  2. 6 out of 10, not bad considering only got into computers post 2000.
  3. I've just quit my job in blackburn (only one train ride away) so there should be an opportunity coming up there soon...once they sort out advertising it. Moving onto pastures new.
  4. Sony VAIO VGN-S5XP running XP Hi-Grade RS400 running various linux distro's as required. Look after all staff and student laptops (approx 250) so never short if I require one for use or cannibialisation (dunno if that's a word).
  5. Just registered so i'll see what turns up before informing teachers. Annoyingly the email address field only accepts upto 35 characters and my email is about 37...
  6. Definately first port of call would be to check the driver. What level of user are you registering the pods as?
  7. Something I'm looking at with last years batch of returned year 11 issues. Our LEA isn't renewing the internet connection or cyberpatrol on them and the school can't afford it. Wondering whether I can swing a few staff issues to prevent me having to purchase new machines...cheaper to upgrade these.
  8. TF2 occasionally : perplexed_penguin
  9. Happy Birthday ZH. Was gonna whinge cos it's my birthday as well today but just checked and hadn't put my D.O.B in my profile so guess I can't get any older :-)
  10. Produced an electronic target system back in the days before replica BB guns were frowned upon...and my eyesight deteriorated to the point of not being able to hit a barn door.
  11. Had a 330 do this last week, rang dell, new PSU arrived next day and right as rain.
  12. Was at Stafford meself with a load of Uni mates...still recovering
  13. We've just put Ruckus kit in after purposefully steering clear of wireless previously and both the coverage and speed of the kit is exceptional. Just a shame my boss had me crawling in the roof spaces to install the AP's.
  14. Depends what graphics card you're running but I'd veer away from "horizontal stretch" and extend the desktop onto secondary monitor instead. This should resolve the problem though depends what software you're running. Worked fine for ATI Sapphire x1550
  15. Last time I was in a council flat, circa 2001 it cost me £70 a week in one of the grimiest areas imaginable.
  16. Desktop 3.2GHz P4, 1GB RAM 2x laptops Sony Vaio VGN-S5XP-B running XP HIgrade R5400 running various linux for data recovery
  17. Had a Carlin marathon last night in tribute, tragic loss to the world of comedy :-(
  18. Did 7 years at school in Clitheroe and the areas lovely, might be interested if we get some details on the pay.
  19. Couple of worksheets I knocked up in excel, you'd have to tailor them to your own tutor groups but anyone's welcome to use them. Sports Day 07.zip
  20. Haven't found it to be particularly good on any browser as it's nowhere near web-compliant, unfortunately being forced on us as well.
  21. Been doing this with batch files but now looking for something to install to the individual PC's. Want them to shutdown about 5 o'clock but want staff/students to be able to interrupt the shutdown if they are still using the machine. i.e. 10 mins to enter a displayed passphrase to halt shutdown process.
  22. Dealing with the laptops for students that we got in under some government scheme. Initially told wouldn't cut into our time at all so why've I got nearly 40 due back in my store to be cleaned and re-imaged. From the hideously scratched restore DVD's the company supplied
  23. Had a few different models of Mju's over the years and generally been pretty robust...even teachers can figure out how to use them as well.
