I've already done this for our Autodesk. Only the Primary Admin can do some things, so be careful who you pick. If you do this, you can set up SSO, there's instructions. We've linked to our Google Workspace, but EntraID is there too. Directory sync needs money though. You need a CSV per group, which I've done per year, and one for the staff - it tells you the format when setting it up. Import them, then you can assign products to each group. Each product gives you 3000 user licenses. So currently we've got 8755 out of 18000 seats. AutoCAD web, means no more installs. It's possible to attach both OneDrive and GoogleDrive to the AutoCAD web - per person, not in bulk. I think the students are able to download the isntaller that I have made available in the Team. ... Everyone here uses Solidworks instead.

Hi, Hmm, so I wonder, does anyone use this ? I know I need to add the AD_Accounts into GWS, but the GCDS tool can only add existing fields, and so it can add $USERNAME, but not $DOMAIN\$USERNAME, unless we create a field in AD with this data in.

Hi, We have Google as our main mail/calendar/drive online. We have Windows 11 on site. Students don't always login to Chrome on Windows, and they rarely login to Google Drive. We were trying to simplify this, by setting up GCPW, which makes them use google to login to the Windows computers. We still need Adobe and other things on Windows, so we can't just dump them onto Flex. I can't get GCDS to put the usernames into Google. It's supposed to have a field on Google called AD_accounts with DOMAIN\USERNAME, but despite Gemini telling me what I need to type in, the sync just ignores the field. The instructions online seem to gloss over with "...use GCDS to import these settings..." I've checked and we're on the most recent GCDS 5.0.39. There seems to be no way to concatenate two fields. Is anyone using GCPW to login like this, and if so, how do they sync the AD usernames? Cheers.

I've had a few problems with Applocker so far: 1. I want to block silently, like SRP did. But there doesn't seem to be any way to do this. 2. I try to sign things from Microsoft as Allowed, but I still get onedrive FileSyncConfig/FileCoauth blocked. 3. Update software runs as current user, from the AppData. Autodesk, Onedrive, Chrome The reason I switched from SRP is because it's deprecated, and isn't supposed to work on Windows 11. I think we're going back to SRP, until we can get all the fixes. But if it stops working for 25H2, I wouldn't be surprised.

Hi, Well Software Restriction Policy (SRP) is deprecated since windows 10. When we try to use AppLocker we get the blue pop-ups to say software has been blocked (but the only way to see what software is in the Event Log), and there's no way to hide this. We've found it's unusable for exam accounts, because there's so much that is blocked. We didn't have this issue with SRP, because it did it all silently. What are other people using to block software in Windows 11 ?

Does anyone have a guide to WUFB? We're using WSUS, and apart from having to rebuild it every so often, it's been fine. I've tried to get a couple of test machines to connect to WUFB, but I can't see them appearing in any logs on Entra. If I run the PSwindowsUpdate command "get-wuservicemanage", it says I'm using "Microsoft Update", but unmanaged. I've been scrabbling around various web sites, but they all seem to be against older versions of this, as the console on Entra looks different to mine.

Solidworks uses a license server, and give 60 concurrent users on site. Plus also unlimited student use on their devices. I think it cost ~£600 per year. Autodesk uses a license server, and gives a 3000 concurrent users on site, for all the stuff they produce, the initial server config is an arse, but will just keep going if you're not adding new software. Free. Sketchup is web based, and will SSO with Google (and probably M365 if you have this). Free. Solidworks and Autodesk will fill up your local hard drives. Fusion 360 doesn't like me.

But, this is would cost me £50k per year just to buy Chromebooks for all the year 7. How much money do you have ?

Hey, Has anyone tried to install the new version of Ableton Live Intro version 12? We were running version 11, and this all worked with their instructions for copying unlock files around, but the same instructions don't work for either 12.0 or 12.0.1. I asked Ableton, but all they've suggested was to rename the "commonconfiguration" folder to "CommonConfiguration", but this is windows 10, so it really shouldn't matter. I think version 12 is also ignoring my options.txt file. Anybody have any ideas. Other than rolling back to version 11, and waiting for them to sort it. Cheers.

I have managed to sort this problem by installing a patch from Microsoft. If you go here: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/office_sustained_engineering/2017/12/05/december-2017-non-security-office-update-release/ is a list of the patches that were released this december for office I have found that the Excel 2016 one fixes it for us. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4011577/december-5-2017-update-for-excel-2016-kb4011577 We haven't rolled this out using WSUS yet, but I have installed it on the 3 machines that had the issue.

We had this issue, it turned out we'd swapped computers around and renamed them based upon where they were located in the classroom. We'd find the computer with a new name (due to its new position), was joined in, it would kick off the computer that had been called that name. So we'd rejoin this computer, with its new name, but it would then kick off the computer which it thought had a matching name. We found the trick to fixing was every time we had a machine, remove it from AD on the client, then go to the AD and remove the computer name if it still exists. Then re-join it. You may find that every time you go through this process another machine loses its connection, but then as long as it's joined in with the new name it'll work. Oh, another important thing to note, it only seems to check that its able to connect to AD at boot up, so machines will break when you restart them, not when you rejoin them...
