No dual boot and, as far as I know, no time sync either (whatever that is). Where do I look to check?

Since there are no posts about this I guess it must be just me? This morning my computer clock display showed a two hour forward change rather than just the one that I was expecting! That only happened on the desktop running Win 7, the laptop (WinXP) went forward one hour. Anyone give an explanation or possible cause, please?

Absolutely spot on - if I was still working at school I would certainly post it on the staff room notice board. On second thoughts I might "arrange" for that to happen anyway:)

I feel your strain ... my dad's pictures are much the same area, except they are of air fields.

Oh yes I have some of those also but thankfully not many.

Whilst I now have more time to dedicate to the work the stress, as I remember, was not necessarily all to do with time constraints. As teejay points out life may be too short and to what end? Still just the research of any project takes up space:)

After what seems like a lifetime in educational IT I now find myself officially retired. To stave off perpetual ennui, and daytime TV, I thought it time for a long term project. Namely turning my vast collection of 35mm slides (and photographs) into digital images. Now for my problem/challenge, whilst I might have been an avid photographer I have never been a digital one. What kit would I need to even start on the task? I obviously need a scanner, but which one? Is specialist software required? I know there are photographic geeks out there, can you give me some advice please? Your suggestions would be most welcome.

I think maybe what Chris_Cook was suggesting was checking in the Ruckus admin console, sorry not at work so can't remember the proper name of it, but I guess the OP has already done that.

The Local Authority seem keen to get every school using Live@edu. Our pupils, whilst having an email client in school, never actually use them. The staff use Outlook client in school and something else outside of school. That situation may change as the new OWA service kicks in from Exchange 2010. I am now on enforced leave from school, as a team from the Local Authority are completing the upgrade/development project that I've been working on all summer. So it may all have been done by the time I'm allowed back into school.

For what it's worth I have been using NOD for over 4 years. Firstly on a Windows 2003 server with XP clients and now with Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 clients. I also have an Exchange server that is protected by NOD for Exchange. Apart from the initial learning curve, I have not had any problems or issues. Deploying packages to clients, getting them to update from a mirror on my server, monitoring installs, and updates, checking for versions or virus. I do understand your frustrations ICT_Guy and can only sympathise with your situation. I hope you can get it sorted soon.

So as not to divert another thread Exchange 2010. Or not?: I am looking at live@edu to run in conjunction with an established (ish) Exchange installation. Is this possible and what are the issues? Has anybody already done this?

Number of things to check for: Public folder replication; Off-line address books; database replication; and something else that I can't just remember:( The reason it was possibly left was for exactly the issue that you are facing now. It might just be worth leaving it as it's doing something but on the face of it nothing, if you see what I mean. Exchange is a beast at the best of times. There are a few KBs on the Technet site about retiring 2003 Exchange servers and removing the last 2003 Exchange server.

The point is that the whole thread would still need to be read in order for the solution to be fully understood. When looking to resolve someone else's issue a "Solved" post would help. However, if looking for a solution to your own issue, which may at first appear to be similar, the same "Solved" post may not in fact help.

Whilst this may seem like a good idea it should come with a caveat. Namely this specific set of circumstances on this particular set up or installation was solved by this piece of advice. Convoluted I know but taking a solution on face value is not always the best policy.

Apparently I was becoming the grumpy so and so 'til my boss "prioritised" and told all the staff I was far too busy and not to bother me. So the staff went to him instead. Now I'm back supporting the staff (for whatever reason, lack of speed to deliver on my part I guess) and an LA Platinum SLA being bought. If there is too much work that it's making you into someone that you don't want to be the solution found is not always what you want.

Having cracked deploying Windows 7 desktops and recalcitrant laptops. Created adult users with slim policies and few restrictions. I now face the nightmare task of creating pupil users. The previous profile/policy has stood in good stead since Windows '95, transferring almost seamlessly through W2K to XP. But now Windows 7 is a completely other kettle of fish. There appear to be so many things that need to be restricted I really don't know where to start. I know that I can redirect documents (along with Music, Pictures and Video), but do I also redirect Start Menu and if so to where? What about AppData and the like? Will the whole thing break if I send them to different places on the server? Would people like to share their experiences? What have you done or not done? Ideally I would like just one mandatory pupil profile so that any changes only have to be done once in one place. Is that possible? Help!!!

Thanks Witch - though my hair is now very much greyer, what's left of it anyway. I have yet to see if disabling the PDA has any untoward effects, time will tell.

Rather complicated but here goes. Old computer (XP) had MS Money installed for a local user. Before the holiday the location of the backup was changed from the local machine to the network server in preparation for the summer move to all users being on the network. Installation tested to ensure that backup could be restored, which it did. Now new Windows 7 computer, user has a network rather than local account. MS Money installed no problems but it will not restore from the pre-summer backup. I keep getting messages about access permissions or corrupt files. Access to the network share is not an issue, the user has full control from the top of the share. User is also in the Local Administrators group. Question - is it because the previous installation was on XP that the backup file is not recognised by Win 7? Is there a solution please, as the user really does not want to have to recreate all the accounts and settings that Money requires. Just to add that I had previously warned that Money was no longer on the MS supported list and that Win 7 may cause problems.
