Thanks Oaktech - it's looking more and more like it's not a progresso issue though as we have now replicated it with non progresso data - still testing the Sisra plugin though and will update everyone ASAP

Hi Nick - thanks for responding, we have swapped out the PC and cleared the profile previously and neither has helped. Unfortunately the error seems random (and given the lack of replies - fairly unique to us) increasing the memory in the machine didn't fix the problem and we have now disabled the Sisra add on to see if this helps I'll update this post as to our results

Good Morning We have Windows 8.1 (64 bit)/Office 2013 For some time now, our data manager has suffered randomly with the following error message in excel There isn't enough memory to complete this action. Try using less data or closing other applications. To increase memory available, consider using a 64bit version of Excel / Adding memory to your device The machine in question is a Core i5 with 8GB Ram (this was an upgrade shortly after the problem started), so isn't really being taxed with excel. We've tried a few things to solve this - most recently biting the bullet and installing 64 bit Office This has not resolved the issue, so we are now adding another 8GB Ram to the machine that I'm sure isn't going to fix it One comment we've seen online is that poorly written add ons for excel can cause this issue. Our data manager works with both Progresso and Sisra Add ons that other people onsite probably do not use Progresso and Sisra support both deny that their add ons could be causing this Has anyone else seen this problem with either of these two systems, alternatively has anyone resolved this problem successfully by doing anything else - please let me know

I've enjoyed specifying what we need so far, up until this point everything has been planned higher up the chain than I so apart from insisting on minimum room sizes etc I haven't had too much input Now suddenly the entire solution is in my hands, and it needs to be up and running as part of the build so I'm suddenly time critical if we are to move in on time, and I don't want to be the link that pushes everything back Thanks Pete, although locations for cabs etc is pretty much set in stone already at this point, although data points and power points are still being discussed at the # per room level

Not a problem Tonto I am in the midlands, the school has ~1000 pupils and ~500 workstations, servers are currently on VMWare, we run 2 x DC, Exchange, sharepoint, website hosted onsite, moodle, CMIS, 2 files servers and SCCM amongst others we currently have a very small wireless set up - this will be replaced by managed wireless in the new build, almost everything we have at present is fat client desktops hardwired I have been told to assume that when we walk in almost everything will be a mobile solution (laptops/tablets) and that we need a wireless infrastructure to support this, there will be plenty of hardwired points to support this wireless infrastructure Servers/switches will be purchased for the new site as they need to be up and running before the old site closes... Thanks for the advice Pete - I have some pretty basic plans currently, I'm waiting on electrical plans and building materials presently ready for the wireless pre survey

We have the Ruckus controller, we have a wpad file on it for windows devices, anything else requires a transparent proxy setting up - to my knowledge my controller will not act as a transparent proxy. I would imagine that you can set the wpad up without needing the controller, IIRC the option is per WLAN in the advanced settings

Long Story Short, Our BSF build got scrapped at the last minute but we are getting a new build now courtesy of county who found the money we are not having a Managed IT Solution put in place, so the budget is tight for new ICT Kit I have been asked to produce a project plan for the next 12 months, essentially from now until the day we move in, including having the network up and running early enough for the builders to hang their BMS off of it, this must include hardware decisions, procurement, installation of servers/switches/wireless and workstations with time scales... Has anyone here ever produced a project plan for a new build ICT solution that they are willing to share? or does anyone have any advice/pointers besides "install MS Project" (already done)? We currently have a school wide calendar - this is maintained by a member of admin in outlook and shared through exchange with everyone else - it is also uploaded to the school intranet in ical format I'm in a meeting this morning to discuss making the information on the calendar more user friendly - unfortunately I am aware that we have hit the boundaries of what outlook was designed to do. Can anyone recommend a good (and cheap/free) calendar program that would allow all staff to view the Calendar? Ideally in a much nicer way than outlook handles it. We have an onsite web server (Wamp/Joomla) so it's also possible to get it on there if we need to

Hi - We would like to send emails to parents letting them know that reports etc are available for viewing - obviously we would like to customise these as appropriate we already have parents email addys in CMIS, and an onsite exchange server, the email addys are not in the Exchange GAL Is there an easy way to send emails to parents through CMIS without exporting all the addresses and mounting them in exchange?

we use a script to assign a printer (so there should be little need to add others) but we leave the option there so that if a printer runs out of toner a user can continue printing elsewhere whilst we deal with it. If there is no way to prevent these mistakes we may have to follow your advice, as our sites are almost 10 miles apart people can't easily fetch mistakes

Hi - we are a split site school and have a print server on each site - printers are all listed into the directory, and some users when adding a printer are picking the wrong site, is there any way to restrict a printer by site in AD or by IP Range
