OverWorked Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I can remember what I was doing exactly 20 years ago, when it was 08-08-88.

contink Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Aw... I feel like a grandad. I was 18. It was the summer just before I went to Uni. The long summer, full of youthful promise... I know the feeling... I was 17 and if memory serves, working on a roller skating rink or an ice cream parlour at the rinks entrance... I also remember sweating my A-level mock results which were appalling when they came out... Oh the memories... [Delete] [Delete] [Dang this button doesn't work!]

MkII Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I was 28! and at that time this morning I was just waking up So much superstitious crap going around today about the number 8
Andrew_C Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 (edited) 27; and had been married for 4 years. No idea what... Strike that, seeing how I'm wearing the now "decorating only" tee shirt, I see I was lighting a production of Grease. The most memorable bit was getting the car up to the stage; first floor level, no ramps! Number One record at the time was:- Yazz & The Plastic Population, The Only Way Is Up Edited August 8, 2008 by Andrew_C
OverWorked Posted August 8, 2008 Author Posted August 8, 2008 @ OverWorked: So what were you doing exactly 20 years ago? Working up the courage to ask out a 16 year old girl who also had a summer job at the factory. Never did, though. Recently I met her younger sister (now in her 30's), and told her about it. She thought it was hilarious.
tmcd35 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I was 11 and about to start secondary school! I couldn't tell what I was doing on the exact day, but my lasting memory of the summer. Walking off with one of my mates to the secondary school in question - about a hour away - after my mum telling me not to leave the immediate area around the house. I arrived home over 2 hours later with a sun burnt neck and in a whole world of trouble
stephenleak Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I was 33 in 1988. Oh, if I knew them what I know now - I could have patented lots of things before they had been invented and made a fortune! For those who don't know, in China the number 8 is associated with prosperity and is the most auspicious of the numbers. Today's date, containing 3 of them is 3 times as auspicious.
localzuk Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I was 3, almost 4. So was probably making a mess and injuring myself.
john Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I can remember what I was doing exactly 20 years ago, when it was 08-08-88. I would have been just over 2 so doing what ever 2 year olds did, probably pulling something to bits knowing me, I've had this habbit of pulling anything and everything to bits since I was born. What were you doing at 8min past 8 this morning? Fighting with the alarm clock as I didn't want to get up LOL
