Thank you to everyone that has filled out the questionnaire so far. Some really good input coming through I'm trying to keep open minded on how the solution will be designed as my research should be dictating that. Currently I'm thinking it will be flash based (as i like coding action script ) and from the backend you'll be able to change everything. i.e. where panels will be, how things will be animated, etc.

Hi all! I'm currently in my last year of university, last year I was on a placement year working in a school hence why I hang around here, and i'm wondering if some of you would please take a couple minutes of your time to fill in a questionnaire for me. Last year one of my jobs was to keep presentation screens up-to-date, I also had several quotes and demonstrations from companies trying to sell us a real digital signage solution rather than the powerpoint/flash setup we used. For my final year project i've decided to research and then build a digital signage solution which will have a web-based backend which will control a running presentation. I'd just like some feedback on wether you currently use a form of digital signage, even if you don't please just hit the "no" answer on the first question and then hit submit as these results will be helpful aswell. If there's two members from the same school on here it would be helpful to me for just one of you to fill out the questionnaire. Garmin all the way When i was reading around to buy mine I heard several 'horror' stories about TomTom's. I suspect this is because they are the more popular sat-nav and some people do follow them blindly. The main reason I got my Garmin was because it was one of the only sat-navs that could get traffic information for free (via FM radio) rather than bluetoothing to my phone and using the internet thru that. I can't think of a time when my sat nav has failed me. Although its due a map update (I've had it well over a year) and thats going to cost £60 because it's all of europe which is a tad annoying!

I used to get really nasty static shocks of my Samsung laptop.. I just put it down to the cheap trousers I used to wear to work, because they used to always get messy with crawling under desks and such.

I think it depends on what you first see, at first I could only see clockwise, but then if I looked away and looked back at a certain point i saw anti-clockwise

I had completely forgotten about this! Luckily I've got a radio clock, which confused me as it was an hour out, then when the computer was aswell I realised the clocks had changed.

I suppose you could go back to cordless handset solution using a 'repeater' to extend the signal. I'm not sure how practical it is to do this or the costs involved. I'm sure it's possible though.

The school i worked at was open on saturdays as well. Used to always get over 100 pupils in. The school is also open on sundays but to the community.

I didn't know about the Win+M, I've always used Win+D. Another shoutcut is ALT + SHIFT +PRINT SCREEN to turn High Contrast colour scheme off after a pupil has worked out how to turn it on

I use BGInfo from the netlogon share. The problem you might have been experiencing with the wallpaper not changing might be because the users don't have access to change the file that BGInfo attempts to change. The file is something like C:\windows\bginfo.bmp. Users need to have access to read and write to this file.

Yes it's fairly large. The school uses placement students from universities (I may self was a placement student and have now left). It works out really well, I've been offered a job for after I graduate and the school got 'cheap' labour for a year. From what I believe the primary school were paying more for me being there for three hours a day than I was getting paid, so it also put quite a bit of money back into the school. Which might be a good selling point to the SLT Last year there were four of us that deal with off-site support. One of those is fulltime off-site apart from the holidays when he is at the secondary school. Each of the schools choose how many hours they want. It ranges from 1 hour a day to a half-day each day of the week.

I think trying to get some drivers for the camera may be a good idea. As Domino said windows is properly assuming it can handle it fine

We sell ICT Support to several primary schools in our area. We basically offer full support on anything ICT related as well as offer recommendations on new hardware to buy. Obviously we only provide the labour, the school must pay for hardware, software and licenses. We also throw in the usual; Telephone help line manned 8.30 till 4 (mon - fri), Email Support with messages responded to within 1 working day, Liaison with existing external service providers. One thing to note is we do NOT support any MIS system. Technically we shouldn't touch it at all according to the contract, but with the schools i worked at I didn't mind installing the client and helping admin staff with any troubles, but everything on the server was up to another contractor.

On the chart I was given when I first started ICT Support was at the very bottom. Great feeling to have when you've started a new job. Even though in theory we have access to any piece of information about the school/made in the school and usual have master keys.

I don't have much issue with ads... Never really notice them that much. Guess I've gone poster blind! The websites I use don't seem to have that many though.

One thing I've noticed is I can't click my mouse wheel to move up and down pages which is something I'm in the habit of doing. Just submitted a bug report though
