  1. I've setup Wii's on the whiteboards and on our massive screen in one of our halls (for other people. mainly lunch time events) . It works quite well actually! I only got to have a quick go on tennis in the massive hall screen. Only problem with the wii is you can't go to far away from the sensor bar because it doesn't work quite as well (I'm guessing the remote can't see the IR light).
  2. same
  3. And yes. Fogging is like ghosting... only more fun and less pain!! (sounds better aswell!)
  4. Theres 6 of us in ICT in the school and theres a few admin staff, site team a few teachers dotted about and some builders but no one else. We had teachers and kids in last week and i suspect again next week. and a quick look on the student tracker shows theres 7 kids currently logged in at the other end of the school! This school is only closed 2 weeks of the year, it's quite normal for there to be lessons going on during the holidays! At the moment i'm on my own in a room that needs re-imaging waiting for SP3 to finish downloading and installing on one of the machines. Then all the machines need fogging and i'll come back later on to make sure everything worked
  5. Mandatory profiles should do this for you
  6. I'm glad to be away from computers! I like the just have a computer that works if I use it at home- don't wanna be messing around with domain controllers, etc. So we have a router connecting mine and my house mates computers together and sharing the internet. Me and another housemate also have laptops which make use of the wireless. Normal setup!
  7. I've used steadystate for stand alone laptops awhile back. Need to becareful when it comes to imaging them as some of the settings muckup sysprep! GPOs are much better than steadystate and steadystate is only meant for standalone machines. It's a pain to manage it though as you need to login as the 'locked' account to make wallpaper changes then log off and log on as administrator to lock down the other account and hope the settings stick
  8. No way! They're knocking down the whole hospital? Does that mean everything is moving over to Rochdale then? I noticed that it's grown in the last few years!
  9. Video isn't loading I'm guessing its hosted on youtube which is being kindly blocked!
  10. You can see the hospital I was born at in that picture!
  11. Ooooo I was in Rochdale all weekend, I just missed them
  12. @Domino: I used to have that wallpaper on my dual screen setup at home! a sheepy on each one. Similar to what it looks like you have! Got rid of my second monitor at home now though
  13. Computer: Work Laptop Desktop Res: 1280x800 Wallpaper: "Stream of Light" Theme: XP - Ergo Running Apps: Rainmeter and Rainlendar (Battery percentage, clock and calendar)
  14. I think that third photo was taken seconds before that guy smashed into the rocks! It doesnt look asif he's going to make the water!
  15. Add the student user to the local administrators group on one of the machines and see if it makes a difference. We had an issue awhile back where our new machines weren't pulling settings and it seems we have a script thats was inherited along time ago that adds pupil users to the administrators group to apply settings (seems strange to me!).
  16. Been all over the north-west news aswell! Visiting the parents and noticed on North-West tonight they were talking about this school!
  17. Oooo I was just looking at getting my self a Dell laptop! I guess I should be looking else where then?
  18. Go into the device manager and remove anything that looks like the printer (obviously with printer unplugged) then do a 'Scan for hardware changes' then run the installer again. Should sort you out. If that doesn't work uninstall all the USB stuff. Then restart (make sure printer is unplugged!!) It'll take a awhile to reinstall everything when you restart but you should be ok to install the printer with CD then
  19. Stay away from Samsung interms of after sales. They're tech 'support' is rubbish!! Ring up with a fault to get fixed under warrenty and ALWAYS and WITHOUT fail get told that they can't get through to technical and someone will ring us back within 4 hours (which rarely happens). Then we have to go through the troubleshooting rubbish then get the numbers we need. Then WE have to ring up UPS to arrange a collection. The kit is quite good, just their support is dire.
  20. There was a post like this before and i turns out not everyone has a plentyful supply. We've got well over a 100 I would have thought. Everytime we replace a machine thats another IEC spare!
  21. 3com are the best for this. They use massive boxes. I think they must just have one size of box which is for the biggest switch they make. They ship fibre modules in these...
  22. It shouldnt be in your local DNS at all. Your DNS server shouldn't know how to resolve that and therefore pass it to your ISPs DNS
  23. We had some that lost a few screws. Think they were older than that though. In fairness it's the only problem we've had with stone's stuff. Anytime somethings goes wrong there's an engineer here the next day (sometimes same day!). We've just ordered a load more stuff from stone aswell. So clearly not enough to put me off the company
  24. I'm paying £200pm but I am sharing a house with two others...
