Chrome does seem to be on a good path... I'm using it currently, I normally use Firefox. If this version is anything to base future versions on I think i'll be moving over to Chrome.

I can't believe that it's still got the hacked page on there. been over 2 months!

Googlemad, I've noticed that the iDesks sometimes use the wrong PSU. We've got several iDesks which don't have all the motherboard power inlets plugged in. It's normally the four pin one on the motherboard that they miss (Which explains why they're so amazingly stable). I don't know if thats the situation with yours but might be worth checking, and then getting a different PSU that will fit the same slot. I suppose you need to make sure the IEC cord is in the same place aswell, otherwise it won't be able to slide into the desk!

If you find one give me a shout googlemad. We may need them in the future!

I dislike PS3s!! My housemate got one the other week, now every time he turns the damn thing on it disconnects me from the internet! There was a setting in the Network Settings section about media streaming or something. I did a google search and someone suggested turning this off which seems to have helped quite alot!! Was very annoying though!

Yeh it's rather interesting!! I want some!

I can easily believe those figures. This site comes up quite high in google searches even more so when you add terms like "pupil" and "student" with the techy question!

I have a Garmin 250 (i think, either that or 350) I got it with the traffic addon that can change your journey depending on the traffic. This was the main thing I wanted the sat nav for; and at the time Garmin was clearly the best for it. Only time it has failed me was when I was looking for new houses and it didn't find one that had been built since I'd bought my sat nav (which is fair enough ). It told me the other day that it'd appreciate a map update- so I might give it one!

Those are two very good answers. I've just started reading some tutorials that others have done with ubuntu just see how it all works. It's starting to grow on me. The only reason I wouldnt install this as my main operating system is that I do sometimes enjoy abit of TF2

lol. I like how you got thanked for that dhicks. Obviously some advice that wizzard needed I've just started playing with ubuntu on virtual box. I've used fedora before for FOG and ive used IPCop. But only because I've needed to- and with guidance from the web. Best way to learn is to play with things... and thats what i've been doing with my virtual machine On that note, anyone know of something I can sink my teeth into that I can't do on windows? I only ask because at the moment I do everything on windows and i'm just messing around on linux, but I want to actually *need* linux so that I have to play with it

Our imaging is coming along nicely now. Still got a few rooms tho! One ICT room we cant access as asbestos has been found in there (oops!)! We're waiting on loads of VGA cables to complete the machines that we've installed in every teaching room (~50!). We still have a suite of iDesks to sort out (if anyone has any im sure they understand why thats an issue ). We've still got some laptops that need collecting by new staff- but they're ready to be collected so not too much of a biggy. I've still got to write up bits of documentation as I leave at the end of August. So i reckon we have 7 rooms left to image/repair and 6 rooms that have <10 machines in. Also need to update audits

I have used Spiceworks quite abit- It allows you to do everything you're after and it can also add alot of the information automatically by scanning the network. It will also audit software in use, allowing you to keep track of your licening, and error auditing is also thrown in there! You can run 'reports' which will allow you to print specific data you want, and you can export it to excel if you want to do some of your own formatting. I haven't used the newest version but I can only imagine that they've improved the features! Spiceworks - Free Network Monitoring Software for Network Management And it's free

not safe for work

Haha! thats a good advert... Not sure that 'trojan' is a good name for a condom though. If i'm not mistaken a trojan horse used to be a 'gift' full of enemy army to 'burst' out of during the night to suprise the enemy? Maybe i'm wrong though...

I'm at work but I want to see it!! ... I might risk it...

We had this on some of our Compaq laptops. As other people are saying it was because of power management. It'd scale down the CPU speed because it was on battery but it never turned it backup!! We just changed the settings in the 'Power Options' and this sorted it
