Securly Default Policy overriding Custom Policies
e-class replied to altecsole's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Ah so that explains it. I had exactly that issue, had a to and fro with the Securly engineer, but didn't get to the bottom of it, then suddenly it started working. No idea why he didn't say this is currently a global Securly issue! -
Does anyone know if this is definitely coming to Apple School Manager? Have confirmed that someone else can see if it in their company Apple Business Manager, but I can't see any changes in our school ASM.

At the moment, I'm looking at keeping our existing print setup as the back end enables a lot of functionality for us, that we need. So ideally, I'm looking to understand how non-hybrid accounts and devices might be able to map those printer queues. If that's not an option then things like PaperCut, PrintIX needs to be looked at. Thanks

Hi, we're trying to remove our last few dependencies on hybrid accounts i.e. accounts sourced in Active Directory and synced to Entre ID. We still have domain joined print servers with print queues to service users, so if we moved to Entra ID only users how would we map those domain print queues? Note that I've looked at Universal Print and that doesn't have some of the extended features we require for our print capability. I've not looked at other third party options just as Paper it or PrintIX. Ideally I want to just mapt them. I've seen a few articles around putting in Cloud Kerberos Trust? Any ideas or advice please. Thanks

Yes it's point 1 that is especially concerning that it allows access to all files that the user has access to. I've been emailing their support team and as you say, it's their integrations that need it. But the permissions suggest any file that th user has access to in OneDrive, SharePoint etc in the tenant is also open to them.

Hi, After some advice. We've got a couple of teachers who require access to mosaic application from a company called Penrose Education: https://mosaic.penrose.education/. However, it requires admin consent to be able to use our M365 credentials. All well and good, and they have sent me the link to doing that (it's not available publicly in the Azure Poratal (Enterprise Apps). When I do this, it presents the following permissions needed: The first of which seems to overly permissive, so I'm not particularly keen on allowing it (have also been discussing it with the IT/Cyber Govs, who are similarly concerned. Does anyone else use this app? Thoughts? Thanks

Eid Mubarak @Zoom7000 and to everyone else celebrating!

Thanks, I have checked and these machines dont have any reliance on any specific MS Office need - I've built the whole school IT system from scratch, so have a good understanding of the end to end system. Anyway, I think I've found the registry setting now and it's reflected in the file in the user's profile called registrymodifications.xcu. Thanks for comments everyone!

Thanks for all the replies, all with pretty valid points. But ... I want to try this out. Together with Office on Web, it might be worth a try. Wont take much time to roll forward and back. Context - it's a pretty small Primary School, and I don't think they will be using Office products in a non-standard way. I'm not proposing changing the whole school over like Teachers, SLT, Admin, Finance PCs etc, just a few as a test. Let's see what happens. I did do a bit of searching on edugeek, and there's enough people moving away from MS Office products with Google options etc. I also saw a thread in which someone (mavhc) said they had done this. So back to my question, if anyone has done this, what settings have they applied - specifically looking for the option via GPO/GPP to set the default save to docx, xlsx, pptx, etc. Thanks

Hi, Is anyone using LibreOffice in school. I'm toying with the idea of deploying it to lesser used PCs in the school, as a bit of a test Has anyone configured it with certain settings that they might be willing to share? I've got the ADMX files from here: https://github.com/CollaboraOnline/ADMX but I wanted it to default to saving in Microsoft format e.g. docx, xlsx, pptx etc and it doesnt seem to be an option in the ADMX files? So does anyone know the registry keys to set, maybe using GPP? Thanks

Hi, Has anyone looked at or are using Compass MIS? They're an Australian company that seem to have now expanded our to the UK and Ireland. Anyone have any reviews that they can share please. Many thanks

Thanks, just downloaded it and tried it but only allows me to add a device between ports 2000 and 8000. This CCTV is on port 80. Any other software suggestions Thanks for your help so far.

Hi, We've got a non-branded CCTV H.264 DVR system in place and the software seems to be playing up as it crashes when the search option is selected (think it might be the last set of patches). Any recommendations for alternative software to use please. Thanks

Thanks everyone, looks like Airserver is the way to go

Hi, Any suggestions on how to mirror an iPad to a PC The teacher PCs are connected to a projector so the teachers want to show the iPad on the projector. So am thinking, if I can get the iPad to mirror to the PC it should show on the projector. I've had a quick look and found some apps: LetsView APowerMirror LonelyScreen (although some reports that it's a dodgy bit of software). Thoughts? Suggestions? Ideas please? Thanks
