  1. Well after a year of working at Ysgol Bro Ddyfi I'm moving on to new things and new challenges with the Urdd (welsh medium schools will know them well) I wish to than everyone for their help and support during my time in school IT thanks
  2. Fixed it now, apparently you can use [comboboxname].[columns](2) (where 2 is the zero-indexed number of the column that has the data you want in it) to pull data out of a lookup field's combo box.
  3. I'm having trouble working out in my head how to do this. Basically I have an order/invoice table where an ItemID from an items table is selected from a lookup, what I want to happen is that the item description and price fields are populated from the same items table so I can calculate totals etc. Any Ideas?
  4. Mine's a c2d 2.0GHZ with 2gb ram and an intel GMA X3100 gpu. Say what you like about vista, the fact that aero needs a 3D card means that it's now a standard fit item...
  5. I've just got an R61i, i was quite impressed that it could run BF2 (with all the settings on low)...
  6. Are you showing tasks from all users?
  7. You can say one thing mind, there'll be a lot of publicity for Portsmouth there...
  8. I've finally decided on the core2 1.8 thinkpad. Now to see how strong it is by repeatedly throwing it at someone I don't like...
  9. Time for some nocturnal chainsaw action?
  10. Unfortunately they don't list mobile CPUs there. The laptops are identical other than the CPU (same ram, hdd etc), so it's a case of is a core2 1.8Ghz comparable to a dual core 2.0Ghz
  11. It seems a small stumbling block has been found. The 2.1 ghz thinkpad I wanted is NLA, I now have a choice between a dual core 2ghz, or a 1.8ghz core2. Is a core2 worth the extra £90?
  12. Turns out it was some malware causing the issue, found and fixed after manually installing/updating AVG and Adaware.
  13. Just seen an asus with a good spec for the same price, but TBH i think it's going to have to be a thinkpad simply because it'll withstand being rattled about a bit.
  14. Bromcom is good, we use the electronic registration, emarkbook and ebehaviour aspects here. The "folders" (PDA units for registration) are pretty robust and solid, it can integrate with SIMS, but it isn't 100%.

    Mai hogia!
  16. It'll prolly be for general home use rather than gaming and around the £400 mark. My parents will prolly want to use it, so it rules out a mac or linux-based eee (i don't have the patience to walk them through either OS), and I want to be able to use various apps e.g ECU fault code readers that are windows specific. What are toshiba's lower end products like? I know their old business kit was amazing, ditto HP/Compaq, but i haven't had a go on the newer kit from either.
  17. We run SIMS here (with LA support), the thing is SIMS is great when you have support, but I imagine it would be a pain without a support contract. Our primaties use RM Integris, an apparently that's even worse...
  18. Sorry, not a mac person. When I'm at home all I want is straightforward, simple computing.
  19. We have Lenovo 3000 N100s here and while they're good, i'd rather a thinkpad with its "throw it through a window" rollcage etc (bit on the clumsy side). I've plumped for a thinkpad R61 with 2ghz but can't decide between a pentium dual core or a core2 duo, the dual core comes with a nice handy XP downgrade...
  20. Thanks, i'll take a look tonight
  21. I've got a PC at home that's my cousin's (in for repair) that usually hooks up to the internet via AOHell, but while i'm repairing it it's connecting via my cheapo router using a cat5 cable. The problem is that while web browsing works OK in both IE and firefox, the PC can't connect and download definition updates from AVG, Lavasoft (adaware) or download google apps/google earth. Sometimes it also tries to connect via the broadband DUN connection, but that of course doesn't work. There's no proxy configured, but it won't connect to certain sites through the LAN link. Is there an easy way of temporarily sorting this? Or will all the updates have to wait untill i return it and hook it back up to AOL?
  22. I'm thinking of buying a laptop for personal use at home, but I'm not sure of who to go for. I've narrowed it down to either lenovo or acer, but i'm not convinced that acer build their laptops as well as lenovo do (on a related point are all thinkpads pretty solid?), also is the intel GMA X3100 GPU any good? or should I pay extra for ATI/Nvidia?
  23. Rugby has used video playback for assist referees for years, why hasn't football gone the same way?
  24. WSUS? Or see if this package has the MSI in: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=10CC340B-F857-4A14-83F5-25634C3BF043&displaylang=en
  25. The same thing happened to me, I mentioned I was going for a job interview and a payrise that was meant to have been actioned over two months previously was magically mentioned and agreed. When i went for the interview and was offered the job they offered to max out my paygrade to keep me, but there was still a fair difference in pay but apparently "jobby valuation" would give me more money, but I couldn't see the county standardising all its techs on a higher grade so I went for the new job. My current wages are only sustainable because I live at home, if I wanted to rent somewhere and move out i'd not be able to do it on my current pay.
