I'm not sure what someone having a mobile phone or Sky TV has to do with whether a student needs a device or not for doing their school work from home???

paulkerton Posted February 5, 2021 Posted February 5, 2021 I am not responsible for our roll out, but I'm told its around the 120 mark for our secondary and 40 for our primary. DfE won't provide us with anymore either. I think we can all agree, all this is doing is highlighting the fact that one-to-one programmes are now LONG overdue in many schools.

FragglePete Posted February 5, 2021 Posted February 5, 2021 We pretty much emptied out our laptop trolleys and cabinets over the first and second lockdowns (some to staff as well), so with the DfE laptops and Chromebooks I would estimate at least 150 devices. I wonder how many we'll get back when this is all over? Pete

Someone should be taking responsibility. To cover your back it might be worth flagging this now so that someone doesn't think they can simply blame IT. The good news is that even in our deprived area we collected 99% of devices at the end of lockdown 1 and we've only had 1 broken which was down to a full on house fire so you may be pleasantly suprised
FragglePete Posted February 5, 2021 Posted February 5, 2021 Our school devices were laptops that were coming to end of life anyway - so, it'll be a bit of a 'meh' if they come back damaged or not at all. The DfE devices, which primarily were Chromebooks for us I do hope we get them back as that'll make up the bulk of the fleet come the new academic year for mobile devices in the school. Pete
kennysarmy Posted February 5, 2021 Posted February 5, 2021 We're a secondary of around 1450 students, we've given out around 40 laptops - 50/50 between our own and government ones. I feel for you guys handing out loads - we get enough grief and calls from parents asking for support!
