Unfortunately I fear this is what is happening to the place I'm currently working. Devices being thrown in, where the leaders of this project are all very hands off and instead of defining best practice and conducting thorough training and review, they let the teachers all decide how it best works for them. It's an absolute farce and will be a colossal waste of money and time precisely because it's not bee built from the curriculum up. We've got all the tech ready but it will be use adoption and teaching where it will fall down because this has not been taken seriously enough by those leading the project.

As I understand it by the JCQ guidelines, students should only be getting scribes/readers if they have it during the course of their normal school tuition. The above example shows if a student needs a scribe/reader and they have issues with the software, how can you trust it to be reliable and accurate, and trust that the student has the ability to know whether it has accurately taken down what they have said?

Have a strong technical IT background, ideally with experience across multiple sites. Have a broad technical skillset covering servers, networking, security, connectivity, device configuration, telephony, access control, licensing, storage, automation, helpdesk systems and remote working. We recently took on a secondary school, building from the 50's and it doesn't look like it's been kept up at all. Original fittings, furniture, built-in cupboards i classrooms, science desks in science block... Only reason I can think of is a lot of the staff have been there for years and years, all got multiple titles, multiple TLRs and at the top fo the pay scale.. school can't afford to do anythign but pay the staff. OH and the IT was terrible till we injected loads of money

Lucky! One of the schools I worked at had these installed summer '24. They don't charge staff, but the company whose chargers they are do! (Not part of the school's electricity supply, you see...)

100% this. I remember getting told off a lot for working things out "the wrong way" but still coming to the same answer. It was never a "this is why we do it this way" just a "this is wrong, do it the way i showed you".

We recently went from desktops in classroom -> laptops + Dell 24 USB-C Hub Monitor (P2425HE) And just provided video tutorial and paper instructions with screenshots to all staff members. And the only classroom we're having consistent issues in is one with a TV instead of SMART board, and a specific staff member.

Recently changed all classroom desktops to hub monitors and given laptops to staff. We used the Dell P2425HE, with active DP -> HDMI adaptors to ensure signal passed on strong enough to the interactive screen. We then supply guidance on setting the monitor and interactive screen to mirror each other so you have the laptop as screen one, then the monitor & interactive screen mirroring each other. For most staff working well, just the usual who struggle to get used to it or just don't wan to learn

Well for the Trust I work for, they've gone for 21.5 inch Dell AiO's and 22-inch monitors for the Primary schools (slightly cheaper is the only reason I guess they'd do this) or the 23.8 inch Dell AiO's & 24 inch monitors for Secondary schools.

Oh absolutely, I would always advise to take the lane regardless of where you are, rather than ride in the gutter. However attitudes by drivers towards this create dangerous situations. We need to encourage alternative forms of travel than cars, and make people want to do it and feel safe doing so. This is why physically segregated infrastructure is so important.

More often that not, the reason people ride on the pavements is because they do not feel safe on the roads, due to the amount of traffic, and the behaviour or drivers towards them.
