Went to do the weekly shop - still loads of :censored:s about who can't socially distance. Stock (apart from eggs and peanut butter) not too bad, though the one way system in our Tesco is nonsensical. More people in masks, but then The Scum is championing that, though there still doesn't seem to be consensus. Noticed the independent tyre shop had reopened.

 

Recent "all staff" email asking where the clay was for an art class. Sounds like a great way to spread nasties to me.

I have heard people on the TV saying that they will need to 'redesign' school classrooms to allow for social distancing when they re-open

How in the name of $deity do you do that without major building works expanding them to be 3 times the current size

The only school classes that I have ever seen in a room where they could social distance have been Year 9 bottom set where the class is kept to a very small size because of behaviour issues and half of them never turn up anyway!!!

 

Oh - sorry - and 'A' level Latin classes when I was at school in the 1970s (Greek was probably the same - dunno)

Good luck redesigning my office. There are three of us in something akin to 'the smallest room in the house' and there is nowhere to move us to (we have only recently been moved out of a bigger office that now has more staff than it did when we were in it.

We're been told to plan to Distance Learn up until March 2021, I think the current thought process is reducing class sizes and having kids stay at home on a rotational basis. I think ....

I think I have already had it so no good for me.

Anyone going to get tested? I guess like every other test it's only valid on the day it's done. You could leave the testing area and catch it on your way home.

I've seen so much information on it, so it only tells you if you've got corona, as I'm similar to you that I think I've hard it

 

I might get it done though for the sake of my parents who are older and potentially at risk

I know a couple of people who work on ITU and they said even people who have symptoms bad enough to need treatment on their ward are often testing negative a couple of times before getting a positive. The tests seem to not be that sensitive.

My wife works in a local hospital, they've seen people with "obvious" Covid-19 infections get negative test results, up to 8 times in at least one case.

Is this the test that they swab the back of the throat and nasal areas that and almost take a sample of tissue from your airways?

 

If so, as other have said, is it the test if you are showing symptoms rather than if you have had symptoms?

 

We really need the antibody test for us to be "safe" but that doesn't guarantee that we cannot get it again.

This is a test so show if you have it at that moment in time. Not to test whether you've ever had it.

I am still able to contract the virus from some else putting me in danger.

 

Until we have the antibody test i think things will be status quo.

 

How do we stand on this?

 

Im also thinking this could start a second wave and that these tests are just for the govt ro get real figures as they havent got a clue whats actually happening.

Even if you test negative, there’s nothing stopping you being off sick. People will still get ill with other illnesses now.

 

If you are unwell, you call in sick and don’t go to work so you can recover. You can now self-certify for a fortnight rather than a week.

 

This applies even for those working from home. An employer cannot require you to work if you’re self-certifying.

 

The only difference is if symptoms are mild. Then, possibly, you might want to get tested to reduce the risk of you passing covid-19 on. Your employer may then wish to make a judgment call on whether to allow you back on to their premises or wait the week required by self-isolation rules.

Nothing obvious, but that doesn't mean we're all clear.

Pretty sure the guidelines say you (or someone you live with) has to have symptoms before you can be tested. At the moment you can't "just check".

Is it possible to stream the same lesson given in say room A ( of ten students) to the rooms B and C without using the internet?
