A friend told me this about how her diabetic husband caught coronavirus...

 

He caught it from one of his colleagues. And gave it to me.

 

I am actually very angry with him. When he went to the office I said to him to please be extra careful due to him being diabetic.

 

And he told me to stop moaning, that he was isolating himself in a different office away from the others and that I should stop nagging him as he would not get it.

 

Welllllll that plan went very well! I found out that the idiot accepted a bag of crisps from one of his colleagues who said he could have them because she was not feeling very well and could not taste them...... Sometimes I really wonder. SIGH

I see that the delay has been requested in order for rapid test administration training to take place. I was hoping it was a general, 'Let's extend the school holiday by a week or two because of increased exposure over Christmas.' In fact, I think that a condition of the 5-day Christmas lapse should have been that it would be followed by a 4-week hard lockdown, like the first one.

New Tier 3 areas

 

And a couple of areas have gone down a tier

Dang it! I was thinking of going to visit family in Hereford over the holiday (outside, of course) as we were both in Tier 2. It's good news that they have moved up (down?) to Tier 1, really.

Bum. We were hoping to escape after the end of term to a cottage near the coast. We've had everything crossed as we've inched closer to the end of term in the hope that we won't get lumped with having to stay home because of any 'contact'. We appear to have made it only to get hit with the Tier 3 hammer.

It doesn’t change things for work. Lots of people have been commuting from T3 Kent to T2 Sussex and vice versa for work purposes daily. It’s probably why Sussex is now T3 too but that’s another thing.

Wait, Sussex is T3? I didn't see it on the list. :(

It isn't, which for me in Surrey (not Waverley) with both grandparents in one of the Sussex's means they shouldn't travel and meet, oh except for 5 days over Xmas where they can mix indoors! Societally, there is only one possible, unpleasant, outcome sadly.

I presume that's Wealden as shown on the map posted by @6Foot2? So, if reported as Surrey, it would be 'East Sussex' except......

Both grandparents are West Sussex - I think that's fully Tier 2, but the impact as we are Tier 3 is the same!

Dunno why I typed 'Wealden' when I meant to type 'Rother'. Have to admit I missed Hastings on the published site - on my laptop screen, it only occupied a few pixels!? Isn't it odd that only a couple of weeks ago that finer-grained tiering was too complicated so it was all county level, but it is now? As for Waverley, there difference between them and their neighbours is pretty small. It's a statistical quirk due to low numbers, but one of the sub-locations in Waverley looks like this right now

In low population areas the stats are not entirely representative.

 

My area Tonbridge & Malling has roughly 70k people. In Tonbridge there are roughly 42000. So my local area (roughly half of Tonbridge) as reported by the government is roughly 21000 people.

 

One person testing positive adds 4.7 to the rate per 100k for my local area and 1.3 to T&M’s rate

 

I realise that this is a standard problem across all the lower populated areas, but it doesn’t half make you think twice about the data

 

It’s the exact same problem that small schools have with meeting DfE attendance targets. One child off sick has a huge impact on the attendance percentage
