Schools and colleges should make clear to staff and pupils that a negative test result does not remove the risk of transmission. In some cases, someone who has tested negative may still have the undetected disease and be infectious. It is therefore essential that everyone continues to follow good hygiene and observe social distancing measures whether or not they have been tested.

From January, rapid-result tests will be provided to schools and colleges, starting with secondary schools and FE colleges, including special schools and alternative provision:

Schools already are struggling with amount of people being off to self isolare/off sick and now you will dedicate a member of staff to conduct testing. The test itself is not very accurate - only to about 50-60% - so some people who will be tested and come negative, will be spreading. And we all seen how kids mingling together. It looks more like tabloid headline than actual good idea.

I see the three family bubble has come down to 2 families + 1 other person who lives alone - just after the announcement that the four UK nations were following the same rules. I can only see further divergence and changes over the next week.

The test is to replace self isolation, where you were probably negative anyway, but just being careful.

A former colleague of mine (who is immunocompromised, but has been forced to be in school the whole time) was approached by a member of staff this week who said:

 

...I feel fine, so I can come in, but I don’t have any taste or smell...

 

Some staff don't bother with a test, it seems.

 

Your safety is not, entirely, in your own hands, but it depends upon the good sense and cooperation of everyone.

There's one particular department that seems to share a certain level of self-importance and arrogance no matter which school you're in, so I reckon I could have a guess. Possibly produce some literature on my theory, though my foreign language skills have atrophied so it would need to be written in the English language.
