Use 'Transfer' option to store junk in your workbench. Go to weapon crafting bench. Find upgrades you like. Apply.

Joanne Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Thanks all. Yeah I've gathered that the desk fan is a pretty important collectable too. I threw some raider power armor away to make room and I'm just trying to find out where I dropped it... URGH!

I ditched the first set I had after you meet the minute men and grab the mini-gun as it ran out of power and I couldn't walk anywhere quickly. Have been playing without any power armor ever since, but as the game gets harder and harder I think I'd be wise to get some and start upgrading it.

Your map should always tell you where the initial power armour is though, so once you've got a Fusion Core, go back to it, stick it in, climb inside, and fast travel. It doesn't use power to fast travel, so just drop it off at Sanctuary or wherever you're based.

Garacesh Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Nah. I have about 5 100% fusion cores, 1 that's at 50% and one in my armour that's on about 70%. But I don't use the armour much. "I might need it later" syndrome.
Arreks Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Depends on the person, you can certainly play the entire game without it I just like how it feels in this game so myself and my companion always wear it. I've got an unhealthy amount of sets and an even unhealthier obsession with upgrading and modding them. (Also 40ish fusion cores now)
BassTech Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 Ah, I found it to be quite cumbersome so I'll probably just get it and keep it for any legendary enemies I'll need to face I always preferred the stealth approach in Fallout, picking your battles and out-flanking the AI

Duranis Posted November 20, 2015 Posted November 20, 2015 I have 2 sets of power armor so far. The only thing that bugs me is I took a set off a raider (pickpocketed the fusion core so I got the frame as well) and it is classed as stolen which can effect your standing with some of the companions. I haven't used it at all yet but I also haven't really been doing any quests either. I went home at lunch to find my Mrs was playing it. She is tidying up Sanctuary for me.... cat pictures as far as the eye can see....

That's as far as I've gotten in the main story, I'm still mooching around exploring mostly. Not rushing my way through it. (Which is totally how a mother looking for her child would act.. Right..? Duranis Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Yeah I have about 40-50 hours played so far. I have only just got to that same part. Sanctuary is now so full of items I can no longer place anything else. Trying to get the happiness above 95 but its pretty bugged (if you leave it sometimes says there is not enough beds, which quickly tanks the happiness, which then takes forever to get back up again). Think I need a couple more clinics to get that last 5 points then I will stop caring about it. As a side tip you may know the number of settlers in a settlement is capped at 10+Your charisma (so in my case its 16 as I have 6 Char), Companions and quest people in that settlement count towards the total of people there so it can be a good idea to send all companions to 1 settlement that you don't care about as they don't always want to be assigned to jobs (mine all live at the Red Rocket). More importantly though you can raise the cap by using Charisma improving items and moving people from one settlement to another settlement that is already at its cap. I haven't fully tested this but with I manged to get Sanctuary up to 20 people even though I'm capped at 16. I managed to boost my Charisma by 12 points from the stuff I had in my inventory at the time so if you really want for it you could maybe get an extra 20 people in from it (assuming there isn't a hard cap somewhere). Considering how many sources of stat buffs there are (food, drugs, armor, even power armor painted with vault tec paint scheme) it is likely possible to get a massive stat boost.

I hated that about F3 A lot easier than F3 was, I'm 60 hours in and haven't found any areas you have to get to THROUGH another area yet. Might get a little turned around in some of the buildings, and some of the more built up areas of the city itself are a bit busy, but other than that, nice and simple.

I hated that about F3 It does seem to be a little more straight forward. The map in general seems a little smaller than previous games but there is a lot less "dead space" with nothing in it. Some people don't like that but I kind of like there being lots of little encounters and places fairly close together rather than running for 10 minutes to get somewhere and only seeing a couple of random mob spawns. There is also a perk that will let you use VATS as a kind of GPS. If you hold down the vats button it will go into VATS mode and show a green smoke trail guiding you in the direction of your nearest objective. This can be really useful if there are lots of twists and turns.

You may already be aware of this but you can get adhesive from cooking stations > utility > vegetable starch, forget exactly the ingredients but all can be grown and harvested on settlements and with a bit of effort should make your adhesive woe's a thing of the past.
