I found a set of X01 armour high up on a tower block roof (I think near the fallen sky bridge). It's guarded, but a bit of jet pack shenanigans fixed that. Now I have 3 sets of armour with different paint jobs (hot pink + flames, red + flames, green shark hot rod).

Annoyingly you can't loot Power Armour chassis'

I went into an abandoned hospital and there was a power armour rig (The yellow thing..) in the basement with power armour in it. I couldn't kill the guy before he climbed inside and I could only loot the armour parts rather than the full rig itself. I assume I could've taken the rig if I'd have killed him first. Which is a bit annoying to say the least :/ but I already have 3 rigs I don't use, so it's not exactly a massive issue.

Nope, all you can do is remove all the parts and then physically move it to a location to store... which is quite a hassle when you have about 8 and decide to change settlements!

I assume if you pop a power armour on any base it doesnt go missing then? (havent played enough to find that out yet) Can you only store one per base?

I have three at Sanctuary. You don't need the yellow thingymajigs to store them, just to modify them. I presume it will always modify the nearest set of power armour (Within reason)

Is VATS actually useful? I use it and I die!

I find it useful in tight situations as you don't seem to need to reload (for example I've done 4 consecutive shotgun shots in vats)

You do reload in VATS. Watch your VATS 'tokens' (that are overlaid on the AP bar), you'll get BIG-RED, BIG-RED, TINY-RED, BIG-RED.. The tiny red represents a reload.

Also when you leave your power armor anywhere make sure you remove the core. If you dont then NPC's (including settlers) tend to like taking it out for a spin.

It is possible to pickpocket the fusion core out of someone wearing power armor. This makes them get out of the suit so then you can take the frame as well as the armor. The only downside is the frame then counts as being stolen which can be both an advantage and disadvantage for certain companions.

Also that first death claw I killed without the power armor or the mini gun :) sat on the roof of the museum with the laser musket throwing whatever explosives I had at the time down on it. Took awhile but saved all the minigun ammo and didn't damage any of the power armor so I could "save them for later". 30 odd levels later I still haven't used either of them :)

Edit:

The only times I have used power armor is when I found some in the middle of clearing an area/doing a quest so wore it until I was done and my second attempt at killing the Mirelurk Queen.

The first attempt on the Mirelurk queen was a 15 minute long battle of me kiting her around chipping away her health with small arms fire (I hadn't unlocked the really good gun mods by that point so think the best damage I had was about 80 per shot on a single action rifle). After a long hard fought battle I got her down to the point where it would only take 1 or 2 more shots then I messed up and got killed.

I reloaded, went back, picked up my T60 armor and fatman then ended the fight in about 30 seconds. The first attempt was a lot more fun if I'm honest.

Ahh, that makes sense. You don't, however, seem to see the reload animation. Which is great when there's a zombey in your face.

Still not come across the fat man at all yet.

Made the mistake last night of going into a building, seeing lots of Raider..... Scavenger(?) on the map, left the building for them to all congregate outside. I lasted two seconds.

Joined the brotherhood now though.

I've not played for 2 whole days and I don't think I'll get chance tonight either :(

You got your epic power armor from the brotherhood?

No, he said something about it being at the garage out back but i couldn't see any? I could only see the power unit storage thingmabob.

I also got completely obliterated by a mine yesterday, i went flying for miles. I have saved the video but no idea how to go about editing it etc....

There is one not too far from Sanctuary/Vault 111

Minor Spolier:

Head North/N. East from the vault and eventually you will come to a scrapyard that has a sentry bot in the middle of it. The Sentry bot is non-hostile and can be hacked from a nearby terminal and then set to various other locations to clear them for you. Behind the sentry bot in one of the cars is a Fatman. Edit: take the holodisk from the terminal and then you can control the sentry bot from your pip boy.

I'm still undecided if I keep them alive or not. When I first listened to the elders speech at the start when you get on the airship I did murder them all on the spot but decided it might be better to reload the save and play through the questline a bit to see what I can get out of them first :) My favorite companion at the moment is Curie so can't really side with a faction that would be quite happy to kill her.

I did also accidentally murder a bunch of them. They where off in the distance and I thought they were gunners so sniped all 5 of them. Its only when I went to loot them that I noticed they where BOS #SorryNotSorry

Go right to the bottom of the airship, there should be a big room full of power armor.. keep looking around until you find one that isn't "stealing" if you touch it! You should get it as soon as you are able to board the airship pretty much.

Oh no.... I have just been told it is possible to work around the size limit of what you build in settlements on the console versions as well. The only reason I started doing the quests was because it wouldn't let place any more objects. Between this and having a new area to explore every 50ft I will never finish this game :)

Just cleared out the Castle for the minutemen.

That last bit was tough! (as was the legendary Super Mutant i encountered en route to the castle the first time i went) I quickly learnt to avoid that part.

I thought the last bit was too easy - I just hid in the cloisters, used a hunting rifle and molatovs on the mumsy and and an auto pipe gun on the little un's. Later I managed to take out a deathclaw with a 10mm pistol basically by hiding behind a tree.

Mind you, over the weekend my house has not been hoovered or dusted, the ironing is still stacking up, no shopping was done and absolutely no jobs were crossed off my list. Even the poor chickens only got a grudging passing 5 mins freshen up during a somewhat rare monitor break.

/\ Me

I'm a little obsessed with this game still......

Over the weekend I did get a 2 shot gauss rifle. Almost 600 damage per shot. More importantly however I got the last 2 picket fences books and the Bunker hill caravan tents. Who wants to explore the wasteland when you can build your own city :)

20 mines on the beach where she makes landfall, job done. Or about 12 mines and a fatboy. Finally did it with all the Minutemen alive!
