  1. Losing the will to live with this and getting nowhere fast with our support. Had two new APs installed last week and had a number of issues adding them to our inventory originally saying the were blocked (now resolved) I've then applied the licensing to them. They show up in Aruba central networking but requiring site assignment When I click on the 2 it takes me to the site assignment page where the two APs are When I click on actions I get the option to assign but it only gives me the option to assign the device function "campus access point" (which you can see I've done from the ss above and there's now no way I can see to remove it!) When I click on the site all my other APs are in I can't see the two new APs. Using classic central (I can't find this in the new UI) under organisation > manage sites I see unassigned but it has no devices and then my site with all of my old devices but not the new ones. in device Pre Provisioning I see the two APs I have added them to my wireless group from this page and I can see that they don't have an IP address nor a name I've checked DHCP and they both have leases on our wireless management VLAN, I can ping both devices and they should be able to communicate with the VC access point which from my understanding should provision them and they should appear in Aruba central (could it be different firmware preventing it?) I didn't add our existing stuff it was c2c funded, I'm sure I'm missing something but I just can't see what. I'm certain they should be able to communicate I even swapped ports with two working AP's to be certain but no change. Has anyone got any ideas or a good start to finish guide to doing this or hints at where I can look to further troubleshoot it? TIA

    Apply timetable

Thankyou for this, took me a while to get him to try but just adding a special charecter to his password resolved the issue!
  3. Morning All Having an issue with our assistant head not being able to access the apply timetable function in sims from tools>academic management > apply timetable When he attempts to log in it fails, however it works using my account. I've tried searching online but just get stuff about permissions which he has, I've even copied my permissions to him and he still says it fails. it's not a huge deal as his office is a few minutes away and it keeps me fit 😛 Would normally log with our sims support but unfortunately their new ServiceNever desk has me locked out of my old account and my emails are ignored, who would think appending .1 to your email address would be a bad idea huh? 😛
  4. Thanks everyone really helpful ❤️
  5. Morning All Kinda not sure where this one should go so apologies if in wrong section. Have been asked to move a number of MFDs into a room with no ventilation other than a small window. Can anyone point me in the direction of useful guidance on the health and safety aspects IE temperature air quality/particles etc. or would you just advise someone to go to the provider Konica Minolta in our case. Have tried googling and can't really seem to find much in the way of solid advice on it and I would argue its not even my remit as a lowly tech but here we are any and all advice welcome. Cheers
  6. Was a recent issue with deadlocks occurring, patch to resolve was 30352. if you are on spring though I think the patch is included in the release but may be worth a try. Thread on here regarding a different issue but toward the end of the thread it ended up being about the deadlock issues.
  7. Looks like there is a new patch for us today. Patch 20352 it doesn't explicitly state its for the autumn version but if you have updated would be worth installing and seeing if it makes any difference, I'll hold of on the update till I know more though I think.
  8. Have you had confirmation that 2901 is required? information I've seen states 2805 is all that's needed. Deadline for workforce census is 6/12/24
  9. My understanding was that the patch was for the summer release only, if you then update to autumn the issue would return. The guidance we got was to hold of on updating until the patch was created for the autumn update and was made available. So far it appears to have resolved it for us although its difficult to tell as people had stopped reporting it, I have asked a few people that had the issue frequently and none have said its happened recently.
  10. Not at home and don't own an xbox, on games pass there's somewhere you can see all the connected services. according to AI you can do similar on an xbox: Check your Xbox accountPress the Xbox button, select Profile & system, then Settings, then Account, and then Linked social accounts.
  11. Thanks Marci I've forwarded your reply to him as he knows more about the Power BI side of this than I do, and it seems similar to advice he's got elsewhere but with more detail and it makes more sense to him now, so were going to go through it together and fingers crossed we can get it sorted
  12. Hi all, I've been assisting one of our deputy heads with getting data from sims and into Power BI. I've accomplished all the command reporting, task scheduling and delivery of data to his profile path. The CSV is updated daily but he has to open power BI update the data and then publish it, he's asked me if I can look into a way this is also automated. I've next to no knowledge of Power BI. I've found stuff regarding sharepoint but were a google school and even then I'd rather this kind of data were not online. anyone have any knowledge or ideas on how I can achieve this for him? TIA Paul
  13. just for anyone with the issue that's not got this issue logged 30/10/2024 14:09:08 - Graham Ankin (Additional comments)Good morning,As advised in our previous update for this issue, we believe that the root cause of the problem has now been identified and testing on a potential fix remains underway.Whilst we are currently not in a position to offer a timeline for completion of this work, a further update will be provided to all cases linked to the Major Case record following the conclusion of this testing period.Kind regards,SIMS Support ah well soon be April when were hopefully migrating away
  14. Hadn't actually noticed that patch, Doh! Scheduled for later today but with half term now I won't know until they return if its helped or not. as the release date is 1st oct I'm assuming it wasn't the patch that Jim on the Capta forums was referring too so hopefully there's something further to come. I've had no update on my ticket.
  15. Cheers guys, I am officially an idiot Removing the space worked, I can't tell you how many times I read that line looking for exactly those kind of things and missed it
  16. I have tried both the local disk on the server shared drives local disk on my workstation and my profile path and all do the same, output to the console close at completion and no output file.
  17. Strange thing is even with the /output flag it pulls info to the console, is that not expected? I've tried various paths and I do have permissions to the drive I'm using and have tried a number of different locations.
  18. Morning Guys Just wondering if anyone can assist me with this my data manager has asked me to automate one of his reports I've followed a few videos he sent and have the batch file running but once it completes there is no file output. does anyone have any pointers or have any idea why that may be? "C:\Program Files (x86)\SIMS\SIMS .net\CommandReporter.EXE" /USER:username /password:password /SERVERNAME:servername /DATABASENAME:simsdatabase /REPORT:"Pastoral Behaviour Report SN2" /OUTPUT: "S:\sims\PBI\B.csv" PARAMS: "" Cheers Paul
  19. Thanks for confirming both of you, it was one of those moments I said no but then doubted myself. Thanks for reassuring, they are now making some changes to the handsets which should resolve the issue.
  20. Just got this update on my ticket Hi Colleagues I've spoken to the department involved with dealing with the deadlock problems and they've provided me with the following information. Patch 30113 was withdrawn as it did not deal with some of the deadlock issues linked with the SIMS Summer Release 2024. The new patch is expected to be available this week or early next week (w/b 14/10/2024). The new patch is based on Patch 30113, but should be more successful in dealing with deadlock problems. Jim
  21. As per title we've recently had a new phone system installed by a third party, and had issues with phones not ringing and other issues. They are insisting we increase the UDP session timeout on our firewall to 11 minutes (their phones register every 10 minutes). I've not read into it a huge amount but my understanding is most phone systems have a setting UDP keep alive which essentially has the handset send a packet every x seconds to keep the session live. I would assume that using that would be preferable to extending the UDP session timeout from 30 seconds to 11 minutes for every single UDP session on the network. I feel a little bit like I'm being made to look like a blocker and maybe I am being overly cautious but ultimately if it all goes Pete Tong its me that will be to blame. am I needlessly worrying or should I pitch my tent on this hill?
  22. I did install the NOLOCK patch but its seemingly done nothing to reduce them. I've had 12 events in the last hour, again I think staff have got to the point they are no longer reporting.
  23. I'm a little bit behind on this one, our return in september has been a mixture of trying to get projects over the line that should have been completed in the summer, our SAN failing and trying to get servers restored to loaned equipment as well as all the other usual september stuff I've had various reports since then but just haven't had the time/manpower to look at it until now. I've scheduled the 30133 patch this evening, has that solved this for everyone or are any of the workstation patches required also? Sorry should have been more specific, this is the deadlock issue not the wonde/group call integration thing Cheers
  24. Just out of curiosity what would your objection to it be?
  25. I've only just returned to work recently and on my return they informed me this had been rolled out. initial reports seem favorable and much better and faster than the fingerprint readers which always seemed to have issues. Literally only 1 week into it though but not had any negative feedback so far.
