CAWJames Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Carmen Sandiego, I remember playing the original computer game, and thought I'd give the new animated series a go. Actually very good, soon ran out of episodes to watch! Also Discovery S2, apart from Tilly being strangely hot, much better tone than the darkness of S1, more humour and crew focused in my opinion.
AJWhite1970 Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Bit late to the party but we've started box watching "How to get away with murder" on Netflix https://www.netflix.com/gb/title/80024057 Cert 15 or 18 so NSFW but thus far (we are 8 episodes into season 1) it's very good. Whether it becomes a bit samey after a while remains to be seen....
JATSO Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 YOU on Netflix finished (The Book Keeper ) now watching Breaking Bad and we can't believe what we have been missing, so my Netflix trial has turned into a subscription:)
Bionic Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 "Le Mans: Racing is Everything" on Amazon Prime. Really enjoyed this mini series (only 6 short episodes) which follows several racing teams as they prepare for the Le Mans 24hr race. 1
sly888 Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 Luther, Tin Star 2, Les Miserables and The Crimson Rivers. All good stuff.
Danp Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 I've recently got back into Eastenders Otherwise I enjoyed Wreck Trek and Trabant Trek, two series about a group of people who drive very long distances across the globe in cars that shouldn't make it.
ICTDirect_Dave Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 Halfway through Titans on Netflix. A very dark take on the Boy Wonder as he leaves Batman and begins to assemble his own team of misfits and unlikely heroes. Superb in places, grim in others, but very watchable!
LeMarchand Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 The Magicians S4 off to a great start - especially with the news that S5 has already been commissioned.
witch Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 (edited) The Orville S2: The recent one with the planet that locked up everyone born under a certain astrological sign was particularly annoying. Why did no-one on the Orville point out that they were born on another planet and therefore not under that sign? . @LeMarchand - Which episode was that then? I dont remember that? TechMonkey Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 I just watched an episode of "Sex Education" because it received some good reviews. Very strange show - supposedly set in the UK with British actors - but the whole ambiance is of a 1980s American High School - with the stock characters (bullies, jocks, geeks, mean girls etc) and people wandering round in letterman jackets and roughing people up by the lockers. Won't be watching the rest of the series Shame as I have found it hilarious. The stylisation is unique and part of its charm, there is some Scandi thrown in too, with some of the architecture. My wife said after the first few minutes that they seem to have gone for a timeless look, a mix of 70, 80 ad 90s.
LeMarchand Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 @LeMarchand - Which episode was that then? I dont remember that? S02E05 "All the World is Birthday Cake". I may be watching at a different "pace" to you!
witch Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 S02E05 "All the World is Birthday Cake". I may be watching at a different "pace" to you! Ahhh - thought I was going bonkers for a minute
mavhc Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Just finished Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, great show, ending was ok
mikeprice Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Ahhh - thought I was going bonkers for a minute WARNING to all usual suspects do NOT comment on this! 1
witch Posted February 5, 2019 Posted February 5, 2019 Just started Nightflyers on Netflix. George R R Martin. Earth is dying. Alien spaceship passing by. Earth sending out spaceship to make contact...
mavhc Posted February 5, 2019 Posted February 5, 2019 Just finished watching A Series Of Unfortunate Events, brilliant show. Do not watch it. 1
CAWJames Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Russian Doll. Excessive drug use and a lot trippy(obv.), only 2 episodes in, but so far so interesting 3
LeMarchand Posted February 10, 2019 Posted February 10, 2019 Just finished Season 1 of Sky's "A Discovery of Witches". A bit like "Twilight" meets "Outlander" but not as teeny as the former or a rapey as the latter. Not bad, and it looks great (though apparently there was less location work abroad than you'd think). I wish they'd hired Basil Exposition to explain the setup, though. There seems to be 3 "creature" races. The Vampires seem to be fairly standard (though don't seem to be affected by sunlight), the Witches can use magic, but need training on how to use their powers/cast spells (apart from main character Diana, who is of course naturally super-powerful ) and the Demons, erm... have visions?
phreak Posted February 11, 2019 Posted February 11, 2019 Just started Nightflyers on Netflix. George R R Martin. Earth is dying. Alien spaceship passing by. Earth sending out spaceship to make contact... Finished the first season of that. Was a very good watch and potentially set itself up for a very good 2nd season... you know.. unless Netflix decide to axe it.
LeMarchand Posted February 11, 2019 Posted February 11, 2019 Finished the first season of that. Was a very good watch and potentially set itself up for a very good 2nd season... you know.. unless Netflix decide to axe it. Must get around to that. I'm curious to see how they can stretch the short story to an ongoing series while keeping what appears to be the tone. I did start watching the much-derided movie a while back, but stopped as I didn't want to remember too much of the plot before starting the series - and because it was a lot worse than I remembered. Still, it does remain the only theatrically released movie of GRRM's work.
Dos_Box Posted February 12, 2019 Posted February 12, 2019 Russian Doll. Excessive drug use and a lot trippy(obv.), only 2 episodes in, but so far so interesting Just started on that last night, it takes a couple of episodes to 'bed in' but getting really good now.
sparkeh Posted February 12, 2019 Author Posted February 12, 2019 Russian Doll. Excessive drug use and a lot trippy(obv.), only 2 episodes in, but so far so interesting Really enjoying this. mrs_sparkeh and I are enjoying speculating about what is happening. Also the music is good.
Simcfc73 Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 Halfway through Titans on Netflix. A very dark take on the Boy Wonder as he leaves Batman and begins to assemble his own team of misfits and unlikely heroes. Superb in places, grim in others, but very watchable! Just finished Titans, really good watch and the expanding DC universe..bit like Gotham just darker 1
Arthur Posted February 18, 2019 Posted February 18, 2019 Netflix cancels Jessica Jones and The Punisher Jessica Jones and The Punisher have been canceled by Netflix, bringing an end to all five of Marvel and Netflix’s live-action TV series. “Marvel’s The Punisher will not return for a third season on Netflix,” a Netflix spokesperson told The Verge. “In addition, in reviewing our Marvel programming, we have decided that the upcoming third season will also be the final season for Marvel’s Jessica Jones. We are grateful to Marvel for five years of our fruitful partnership and thank the passionate fans who have followed these series from the beginning.” Both shows will remain on Netflix for subscribers, even as Disney begins to move its original series and films over to its own streaming service, Disney+, which is set to launch this fall. Because Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, The Defenders, Daredevil, Luke Cage, and The Punisher are also co-owned by Netflix, they won’t be removed.
Garacesh Posted February 18, 2019 Posted February 18, 2019 To be fair, wasn't Jessica Jones universally panned? I tried watching it but couldn't get through it. I got up to the point where Doctor Who Mr. Brainwashy Man made that Policemanofficer jump off the building, and I still wasn't into it. Heard many good things about Punisher though.
