What other Skills do you offer your schools apart from IT related

I thought it would be interesting to find out how many people offer their schools skills they have outside of IT.

I'm a qualified Archery Instructor and run sessions in both the schools I work in. I'm also involved in Forest School, due to my Scouts involvement.

Any one else?

When I was in the school I offered self defence classes after school. each year group had their own session, and I ran 4 sessions a week. They were all registered and properly insured and many attended the evening class which I attended as well. However due to disablement, I no longer practice either martial art which I spent 24 years doing.

At my old school there was stuff like first aid, event and grounds photographs... I taught a couple of computing lessons in emergencies, one with computing history and a few when the supply had no idea about programming.

My favourite was helping the the caretaker out a lot with stuff like cabling and decorating when I had free time and for a while picked most of the locks he'd lost (or had never been given) the keys to in the school.

Damn, that's harsh. I couldn't imagine not training. :/

The ability to say siddaaann and shutttuurrrppp. Other than that my only other skill is my ability to be here at times when teaching staff have already gone, leaving me doing bus duty and locking up.

Also, I'm good if anyone wants an argument.

No you're not!

Don't really do much outside the world of IT here, in all honesty, unless you count AV bits and bobs into that.

Music

I help out at concerts and often play in the orchestra

i take in my instruments when the schools are studying "The Orchestra" so that they can see and hear a real instrument and even have a go if I am feeling kind.

I used to run a fitness club, but it was hard work and all the kids gradually quit. The last session was me running with the sole remaining kid in the rain and he said he might have a seizure so we stopped.

I offer a beautiful face to look at every day, is that not enough?

I have an uncanny ability to not do any work, but still stay employed.

I'm a photographer, wouldn't call my self a pro but specialise in an area not many do and have had work published in print and on TV from it.

Also involved with fire brigade, used to go training once a week with local crew unofficially. Know my way around an appliance, the equipment and how it works.

So far, this school haven't bothered to enquire too deeply as to what I can and can't do, their computers keep runing with minimal downtime, I come in at 6am to run skype sessions with schools in tokyo and I stay untill 7pm to accomodate presentations and parents evenings, and as far as they are concerned that is enough.

What they haven't found out is that I'm a BCU qualified Kayak/Canoe instructor, a South West Mountain and Moorland and Coastal and Countryside qualified walking instructor, a ropes course instructor, a SMART trained whiteboard installer, a Hitachi accredited projector installer, a Yamaha Commercial Audio trained sound mixer, a very keen amateur archaeologist specialising in modern conflict archaeology, a volunteer for the Ancient Technology Centre, I'm an OK photographer, lighting rigger and operator and I can also make an excellent cup of tea. :D

I have a cutting wit and an almost infinite pit of sarcasm.

Failing that - I have an ability to jury rig almost anything, to the point of fixing blinds with a bit of string and an RC helicopter with a felt-tip pen casing.
