All of ours is 2K8R2 1vCpu with 2GB of ram.

The two VM's are Server 2012 2xvCPU with 2GB RAM. The token physical box is 1 x Quad Xeon with 8GB RAM.

These days typically a RAID5, Xeon's with 8 cores and 8-16GB of memory. I appreciate that's very vague, but I'd certainly up your memory as 2GB for a 64Bit OS doesn't go very far these days.

I have 2 2012R2 DCs, one is the old TMG box with a 4 core 2.7 GHz CPU and 8GB RAM and the other a VM with 4GB RAM and a single 2.67GHz CPU (this one has all the roles).

 

Neither seems particularly taxed

The 2 virtual have 2 cores and 4Gb each (DC6 is currently reporting using ony 2Gb). The physical is an old decommissioned virtual host server, so stupid specs - 8x2Ghz Cores and 24Gb Ram - only using 9% memory and 1% CPU can't for the life of me work out why it's that low:p

7 DCs here, all 2012 R2. Only 1 is physical (HP Microserver with 8GB RAM), the rest have 4 v-cores and 4GB RAM, on 10k SCSI powered RAID 10. The only other roles they hold now are DHCP and DNS on a couple.

Standard HP DL360 server with 1 CPU (whatever xeon it comes with) and 12GB ram, DCs hardly do any work once going even with loads of logins you'd be surprised you don't need much umph on them. The Virtual DCs have 1 vCPU and 8 or 12Gb ram so bascially a virtual version of the physical Mirrored disk with hot spare completes the picture for physicals.

If it's just a DC, then 2 vCPU and 2GB is fine, no need for any more RAM.

Ours do dns/dhcp as well. (We have vlans and 1 dc on each vlan.)

Just checked the VM at this site which has the same functions: 2K12R2 2vCpu with 4-8GB of RAM (dynamically allocated). Assuming the HyperV console is reporting correctly, I've never seen it allocate more memory, and CPU usage has yet to go into double figures. (In fact most of my VMs mainly run at 0% apart from the File/Print server that hovers in the low single figures which does lead me to suspect that the report might not be 100% accurate!)

We look at each DC task manager. Not at the console. and that gives me what i need. They do tend to sit on 60-70% RAM. I think they can do with a 2nd Core,

Just did that: 0-3% CPU and 67% Memory, so not too far off. The requirements here are probably lower than yours, though. No fancy vLANs!

How did those of you who are on 2012 R2 handle migrating DHCP and DNS. Was it easy?

 

We also have Radius on one of our DCs, so I'd be interested if anyone migrated that too.

My vDCs all have a single vCPU and dynamic RAM set up with start-up RAM of 4GB. However, right this moment one is using 1177MB and has 1402MB available, so 2GB would be plenty. The other is at 1267MB/1491MB. Those 2 also run DHCP/DNS and DNS/KMS respectively.

I migrated to 2012r2 and found it no different to upgrading any other DC. Includes dns & dhcp, but i haven't upgraded the functional level yet as i've got windows 7 clients and haven't had the need.
