I do wonder if the cheaper and quicker option would be to just buy it back off the current 'owner'. Whilst there's certainly methods they could 'take' it back, I'd have to imagine a long legal battle would end up costing a lot more and knowing councils i do wonder if they were expecting the 'owner' to be paying for the legal fees (or vague threats) and that's why they stopped responding

We are in our first term of Classroom Cloud having moved from senso / v2 A Few issues that were our end (stuff like we blocked full screen). The UX from a technical side will make you want to hit your head against a wall (3 different pages to assign a classroom), but from a teacher point of view its amazing. Documentation is also amazing, yet not the easiest to find, and i do have to stress to read them carefully. The only major sticking point is the lack of being able to broadcast to devices that aren't logged in. The only major bug we have had is the portal going to sleep and was fixed by adding the classroom cloud urls to the SleepingTabsBlockedForUrls edge policy Have found it to be lightyears ahead in speed and reliability

I Think the effort here is where its going to fall down, they might be 90% of the way there, but its the last 10% where they will fall. After the publicity has fallen if they are going to bother to continue. like with most open source stuff they need someone to maintain it, which seems less likely with something that's been AI'ed overnight. At least with Stuff Like GIMP your going to have someone maintaining it, or a fork of it until the heat death of the universe. and with Adobe, £25~PP/Month for a business, or £4PP/Year for a school isn't that much really if you also take in your getting support. i think AI is probably better for building modules/plugins for software rather than whole suites, in the long run. Edit: That being said, the more it can be used for software preservation the better
