I remember Lego Batman came with my XBox 360 when I bought it.. I was surprised at how fun the game actually was. And the Lego Movie is apparently pretty good.. Might have to give the Lego Batman movie a shot. I love just about everything that Lego puts out. The humour really hits the mark with me. The Lego Movie is great, the Lego games, the Lego cartoons... everything really.

The Lego Movie is great, the Lego games, the Lego cartoons... everything really. Must say I'm not particularly looking forward to the Ninjgo Movie. The series has it's own style and humour and my kids love it. Neither of them liked the trailer for the film though! Also, whats with recasting everybody? I'd be miffed if i was one of the voice actors who had just spent the last six years doing the Ninjago series!

Cineworld generally has about 20-25 mins of ads, but now they have per seat booking you can arrive at 20 mins past start with no problem Will the most popular movie ever be Lego Starwars?

If you enjoyed that, I'd recommend 'The Cave of the Yellow Dog' - a quasi documentary about a nomadic Mongolian family. Very good and stayed (for the post credit scene) until the lights in the cinema were switched back on as did most of the others watching but we were all disappointed!

LeMarchand Posted March 5, 2017 Author Posted March 5, 2017 Parker starts out as a typical Jason Statham movie--he's the criminal with the strong moral code, gets double crossed and sets out for revenge. He's clever, he's resourceful, and everything moves along at a fast pace for the first 30 minutes. Theeeen Jennifer Lopez turns up and it turns in to some kind of weird romantic comedy, with her checking his bum out and him putting on an atrocious Texan accent in a ridiculous hat, and all this faff about her struggles at work as a nearly-broke divorcee, and omg honestly it's like they cut Maid in Manhattan into the middle of The Mechanic. I have never known a film change character so completely and catastrophically as this one. Don't even bother. Intrigued by this review, I had to watch this - and pretty much agree, though I generally enjoyed it. The J-Lo stuff was very odd. Why would she want to be a party to multiple homicides, or think that JS was interested in her romantically or seem to be having such problems finding a date? I suspect the "Texan" accent may have been revenge for Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins.

Sagima Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 We watched Absolutely Anything at the weekend. I didn't have high hopes for it as I hadn't even heard of it two weeks ago but it was quite enjoyable in the end but I can't imagine it won any awards. The other Mr Sagima criticised it for a lack of imagination on the unlimited wishes front (only the villain of the piece seemed to really get on board with doing it properly) but to be honest if they had done it "properly" it wouldn't have been as fun. I'd probably give it about 6/10 - the cast was wasted by the writing to some extent. It seemed very much like a film that was written for a bunch of teen actors for a teen audience and then suddenly promoted into being a proper movie with some hurried edits.

Yes, but the violence of the farm section meant I couldn't watch it (and I am not squeamish) and the end bit of emotion was really short

I felt that (particularly after the farm bit) it was becoming clear where the film was heading, which gave the whole climax much more weight to me. I thought the last exchange between Logan and Laura was a killer (and his line could be read in a few ways), as was the bit where one symbol is changed into another. Maybe I'm having a bad influence on Mme LeMarchand. She used to be unable to watch anything above a certain low violence/gore threshold but now (whilst certain things still have her hiding) she laughed as much as me when Vinnie Jones' character in "Galavant" gave the woman he loves "The same exact earrings those queens 'ad" - but has forgotten to take the ears off.

If you like zombies and thought WWZ was good then this is a really good watch. Just sat through it, it was ok. Not a patch on 28 Days Later IMHO, still my scariest zombie film.
Garacesh Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 (edited) Logan I mean, I get it, it's a Wolverine film, a character mostly defined by his aggressive tendencies and his mutant claws, but there was a bit too much violence, I reckon. And it was incredibly gory for a 15. Overall it was enjoyable, unpredictable at times and incredibly predictable at others. It kept pretty reasonably to comic-canon (it strays wildly at some points, but, y'know.. Hollywood.) but given that Marvel comics have so many different universes and different takes on the same character, I'm not going to gripe about that too much. Character development unfortunately goes the same way as most films these recent years: 70% without change then rush the lot in at the end. The [reveal at the farm], whilst it was reasonably explained earlier in the film, and I get the symbology behind it, it still felt a bit gimmicky. Overall? It's a'ight. But the potential the plot had suffered in favour of gratuitous violence. Edited March 7, 2017 by Garacesh 1
