SLT have made the decision to change to PS Financials. Will they need a seperate server and SQL database or can this run on our current Sims Server without messing about with the databases? I'm tempted to go with the hosted option to avoid any issues. Thanks all.

Hi. I’ve used the free version of Teams a few times but in a nut shell what would a school need to use Teams? Do they get it if they have office365? Do they need a Microsoft address? What if they don’t have office365. Thanks.

They do look quite nice! The camera is what I use the most so probably looking at the Pro Max version. Its a lot of money though. I'm on the 8 at the moment so would be nice but can I justify it. Might wait and see in 6 months once any issues are highlighted and ironed out.

Probably not worth it if you have the X at the moment. Wait a year or two for a bigger feature jump.

Yes our children our now out of isolation and we requested the laptops back. To my surprise they were actually well looked after!

Member of SLT has a laptop that keeps losing connection with the Printer. This happens randomly and I have to stop and start the print spooler service to get things working again. I'm even thinking of having a batch file restart it every hour or so. Im wondering if it could be due to the laptop sometimes losing its wifi connection but this doesn't happen all the time. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Exactly what we are in the middle of doing. Meraki are taking the pi55 when it comes to license costs. No school needs licensing for Wifi these days. Buy equipment once. Done.

In the same boat as you my friend. I provided a long discussion about the privacy/issues surrounding Zoom and all the facts needed and that we have Gsuite that everyone is used to. Head: "I love Zoom. We are all going to use Zoom".

Unfortunately SLT love Zoom here and have even bought a business account.

The first thing I remember doing is sending out an email to all staff. Introduce yourself. Then ask them what works and what doesn't work and what they would like to see happen in the school. This can help give you an idea on what the staff use and need in their teaching and also makes you look like a hero that you are listening to their views and wanting to help them. Don't try to change everything at once. Spend a few weeks getting to know your systems, network config, etc. I ended up finding random access points and switches in various places. Get to know your network. Once youve got things in hand, then look at best practice and how you can make things better.

Our users dont want to sign out as they cant remember their password any more. *Bangs head*

Fuming nightmare this is! The main problem we have is parents are already signed in so it defaults to their gmail/google accounts and then they wonder what the hell is going on as they cant see anything and why it keeps reverting back.

I added printers onto our network and deployed via Global Policy. For some reason the printing always defaults to duplex printing. I've set the options in Printer settings on the Printers on the server itself yet they still show up on workstations as duplex. I feel that I'm missing something obvious here. Anyone help me out, Thankyou.

Just as a follow up... I ordered the U50's from www.ypo.co.uk Prices were good and the Visualisers have gone down well with teachers.

We just have VNC installed on the PC and then VNC Viewer on the machine you want to view it with. Works well.
