Thankyou. My domains are already listed there as we currently use @ourdomain.co.uk with our current provider. All is well. It doesnt let me change anything tohugh from there.

Just had a look on MXtoolbox and I have the following: 1 aspmx.l.google.com 1 aspmx.l.google.com 5 alt1.aspmx.l.google.com 5 alt1.aspmx.l.google.com 5 alt2.aspmx.l.google.com 5 alt2.aspmx.l.google.com 10 alt3.aspmx.l.google.com 10 alt3.aspmx.l.google.com 10 alt4.aspmx.l.google.com 10 alt4.aspmx.l.google.com I assume if I add this to the new domain provider then this should be fine? It looks like the same records for one of our other domain that is linked to gsuite too.

Hi everyone, We are moving our websites to a new provider and also moving the domain addresses over. We are heavy GSuite users and all our e-mail is @our domain.co.uk I cant quite remember what I did last time but do I need to get MX Records from Google and place these on the new domain provider for my Email to still function? I remember having to do this once but cant remember exactly the steps needed as until I updated MX records it killed our Email. Can anyone reassure me and point me in the right direction? Many thanks.

How to remove gsuite user profile pics?
Sonic007 replied to Sonic007's topic in How do you do....it?
We let staff choose their own profile pics but now have disabled all profile pics for students. Too much GDPR and concerns if photos got out as they are public view on user profiles. -
How to remove gsuite user profile pics?
Sonic007 replied to Sonic007's topic in How do you do....it?
Another reason I had for removing the profile photo pictures was with safeguarding and privacy. These can be seen by anyone on the net and if we don’t know who has and who hasn’t uploaded a picture (which could even show a bit of flesh at times) it’s worth locking them down. -

Thankyou. That worked perfectly. -
Hi everyone, We use GSuite and our users are constantly changing their profile pics to photos that are not school friendly or are offensive. Does anyone know if there is a way of disabling profile pics from gsuite users? Many thanks.

Hi all, Just going through our MS Volume Licensing site to get a more recent version of Windows 10 and wondering what is the best version? Computers will be for added to the domain but if anyone knows the version with the least amount of rubbish included that would help. I see there is Education N, Enterprise N, Enterprise, Education N, etc. Thanks all.

Sounds like rubbish to me when you think of the amount of hotels around there, not to forget all of the airports numerous Wifi networks too. A proffesionally installed system should be fine.

Thankyou everyone. The school is indeed running old patch panels. When I inherited this place 2 years ago I have been progressively removing random 10/100 switches stuffed in ceilings, old redundant hardware, and trying to get the whole network on gigabit hardware. Patch panels are only CAT5E but will have to do for the time being. I had a look at the yellow fibre cables. Not much info really. Only thing printed on them is "SCST50DYE2 fibre optic cable". Again, thanks to all for your help. Much appreciated.

Thanks all for your replies. Here is a picture of the switch and then the current 10/100 Media Convertor with the Fibre plugged in.

I have a fibre connection coming into a server cabinet that goes into a media Convertor and back to etherrnet. Instread of upgrading the 10/100 Media converter to Gigabit, I have a gigabit switch with two SFP ports. What do I need to connect up and do I just go directly into the switch and all should be fine? Thanks all.

New DoA Aruba switch warranty replaced with refurb
Sonic007 replied to dgsmith's topic in Wired Networks
Seems completly reasonable to me. If you've paid for a new switch then you should be getting a new switch, not a 3 year old reconditioned one. -

How do you update your Unifi AP's firmware?

Thanks for your reply. Why do you remove it and not just leave it un-proxied? -
How do you update your Unifi AP's firmware?
Sonic007 replied to Sonic007's topic in Wireless Networks
Just thinking....I take it the Controller does the downloading of firmwares so if I can get the IP of the controller to not be proxied then that should work. -
How do you update your Unifi AP's firmware?
Sonic007 replied to Sonic007's topic in Wireless Networks
Yep, currently testing it out on our least used AP. It's a right faff though don't you think. You'd think Unifi would have enabled a way of adding proxy settings in. -

Yes, I've made sure it is the .bin file. :tu: -
Hi everyone, I'm trying to update the firmware on my Unify AC Pro access points from the Unify controller but pointing them at the firmware download url doesnt seem to be working. I'm guessing this is because we are behind a proxy so it wont be able to reach out to the Internet? Anyone know a way of updating them? Thanks all.

Why are my Unifi AC-Pro's showing differently?
Sonic007 replied to Sonic007's topic in Wireless Networks
I thought this originally but placing these in the other building where the others are does the same thing. From closer inspection it looks like they are on different firmware releases. I don't know if there is a way to force them all to update or if I have to manually do each one.
