  1. Yes they are the ones we got. Barely usable for students to type up some work. This is why I'm looking at turning them into Chromebooks to try and speed them up a little.
  2. Not Microsoft 365 users here I'm afraid.
  3. Hi all, We currently have a contract that is up for renewal and I'm interested to see what is out there to compare? We are two schools, side by side, an Infant, and Junior School and there is a site wide phone system so staff can call from infants numbers to the juniors and vice versa. We need approx 25 phones. Our current system uses Panasonic phones and we are keen to look at a more stable sollution as Panasonic will cease to support phones in the coming years. We have two phone numbers, one for each school and then a line for the alarm. Voicemail and an absence line for pupils and staff would be needed too. Please let me know what you would recommend and anyone interested in providing a quote, please DM and I will get back to you. Thankyou.
  4. These laptops are sooo slow even a snail is faster.
  5. Have you tried: Check IE's settings have no proxy. Then run cmd and do: netsh winhttp import proxy source=ie Or also check in Sims Services Manager as there is option to set proxy details in there too.
  6. Hi, I’m looking for a projector trolley that we can wheel between our hall and drama studio. Does anyone recommend any? I had thought of an amp in there however for ease of use am thinking of installing some Bluetooth speakers. Less cabling too. Distance from wall to trolley will be a max of about 5 metres. What do you use or recommend? Many thanks.
  7. Synology NAS here.
  8. I'm planning on trialing it on the Dell 3190 laptops we got during the pandemic. They were just about fine for home learning but are so slow and crash often. Hopefully turning them into web machines will help.
  9. That is the reason I'm looking at the Pro. I take a lot of photos and the camera is very important to me.
  10. Thanks all. I will have a look at CloudReady. At the moment Students just login using an account called "Student" (Not on domain) and then load up Chrome and login with their Google account. As long as they can get to a web browser and login to Google that would be fine.
  11. Hi all, Does anyone know if there is a way I could turn some basic Dell 3190 laptops that arent very powerful into quick boot web browsing machines. At the moment these machines are slow and Windows is always crashing on them. I was thinking if there was an OS that basically just gives a web browser so they can access Google Drive, Docs, basically Gsuite, then things would be great. I just need it to boot to a web browser that can let students use Google Docs, websites. Anyone got any ideas? Many thanks.
  12. Yes I'm very keen to upgrade my 8, it is just quite an expensive spend! Think I'll wait until Christmas. Definately wanting the Pro though as have been wanting a larger screen and better cameras.
  13. Will anyone be buying the latest Apple gadgets? I was finally planning of upgrading my old iPhone to an iPhone 12 Pro hoping it would go down in price now the 13 is out but it looks like it has been completly axed. I'm guessing the changes are so little this year that removing the 12 Pro makes it look like a bit more of a jump in features. So it looks like I'll be having to stump for the 13 Pro instead. Would have been nice to see a few more features..... It isnt a ground breaking improvement to the last model really. Wht do you think?
  14. Thanks all. I'm going to check them all out and get one ordered next week.
  15. Many thanks Aprice. I will definately check those out.
  16. Hi all, Does anyone have their own ID card printers? We currently use Mifare cards on our entry system and have to send off to get our new cards printed. I'd like to see how much it would cost if we did it in house and it would be faster too. I'm guessing we could just buy the cards from the company and then print them ourselves. What is everyone using and do you recommend any printers? Cost? Many thanks.
  17. Sorry, Yes I mean not on the domain.
  18. Hi all, I'd really appreciate if anyone could point me in the right direction in making sure I have things setup correctly. The setup: The host machine is a Windows 2016 Server with 2 HyperV virtual servers: 1 Domain Controller and 1 Sims Server. The host machine is currently not on the network. The domain controller and Sims server are on the network and are setup with static IP's. These Virtual servers connect via a virtual switch setup in HyperV. Lets call this VSwitch1 The virtual switch is configured to use the host machines NIC1 and connects fine. I currently have it set with a static IP. (I assume I needed to do that as if it had been DHCP it wouldnt have known where to go since host machine is not on network). Does this all sound ok so far? The next bit I want to make sure is that the host machine can also update itself. Currently it isnt connected to anything and in network connections there is NIC1 (the physical adapter) and the Virtual switch displayed. I need to get the host to get it's windows updates so am I fine to give NIC1 a static IP and that should be OK? Many thanks all.
  19. Quick photo taken on my phone earlier this year.
  20. Many thanks ajp233. That sounds good. I think we will give it a go.
  21. Hi all, Anyone use this? Is it any good? We dont need to host anything our end or a web portal do we? It's all done by Capita? Thankyou.
  22. Yes, using the Gmail app.
  23. Hi, Does anyone know a quick way of adding an email account such as our staff gsuite email accounts on to Android phones? It’s dead easy with iPhones but a blooming nightmare with Android phones. Every time I go and add an email account it moans about deleting or creating a work profile and then finally asks for my email login details but then goes round in a circle and gets me nowhere. I have already sorted out security settings in the google account for lesser secure apps. Between work profiles and device policies it is a real headache. Anyone know a good quick way? Thankyou.
  24. "Normal People" on BBC3 Really enjoyed this. Yes it does have some nudity in it, but the storyline is great. Took me back to being at school and lifes ups and downs.
  25. Got mine the other day. Many thanks.
