I'm setting up a guest Wifi for people who come on site and configuring it within our Unifi Control Panel. There is the option to do a Guest Portal which is what I have selected and you then enter a password once the user lands on our portal login page. Or is it better to just setup an additional Wifi network and get the password set when you make the Wifi connection instead? Which would you go for? Thanks

I cant believe it, I'm such a plum! There were red lines. I've F5'd it and all is now working as it should. Thankyou.

Thanks for your reply. I've just tried creating a new user in AD and if I log on with that new user or any user that has not used that particular machine, it works and the new no proxy settings are applied. If it is the usual user, eg. business manager and I log in as her I'l still get the old Proxy. This is is the same on all computers with the login of the person that usually uses that patrticular PC.

Is it possible to mount the VHD as a drive in Disk Management to see if that gets you anywhere? I ditched Windows Server Backup a while ago mainly as it was so slow to restore and then it would cause plenty of errors. Instead, I now do Exports from HYperV and then just Import them back in if needed.

Thankyou both. I've just realised the No_proxy setting is set for users which I was led to believe applied when a user logs in. User configuration->Preferences->Control Panel Settings->Internet Settings and configured in there. I see I can apply my computer based configuration policies if I right click my _Computers folder and do an update there but how do I get the users one to update? Am I setting this in the wrong place as I need to to apply to all users? And until recently when using a proxy it did apply to anyone that logged on. I'm a little brain frazled today. Any help much appreciated.

Schools Broadband - feedback please
Sonic007 replied to speakercon's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
We have just moved to Schools Broadband and are very pleased so far. Speed is great. Like moving from any provider there are always a few things to tweak and their support department have been excellent, unlike our old provider which would take nearly a week to action any tickets. Logged an issue this morning and it was sorted moments later. Happy. Ours also came with backup 4G router which takes over if fibre connection goes down. -
Hi. I’ve got a policy to set no proxy as we’ve changed broadband and no longer need the proxy applying. This is applied and shows if I run a GP Results on the client. However it isn’t doing it. The proxy is still there. If I log in as a new user on that machine it works but current users won’t change so not getting the new settings. Any ideas? Thankyou.

Schools Broadband Netsweeper SSL Certificate
Sonic007 replied to Sonic007's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Thankyou very much for your replies. Much appreciated. Is there any disadvantage of turning SSL inspection/interception or will all my users be fine? Thanks. -

Our filtering is meant to be transparent so thought we wouldnt have to mess with anything. -

I thought that was the only thing I had to do on the server and then force update GPO settings. -
Schools Broadband Netsweeper SSL Certificate

Are you serious? THe whole point we signed up was to make things simpler. So if someone turns up with their laptop they cant just connect and not have to deal with certificates? -
Hi, We've just gone live on our Schools Broadband and I'm just testing things. Just a few questions: - I cant seem to get the SSL certificate to work. I've imported it in to a GPO but sites such as Google just don't work. - Will the SSL certifcate on the server also be picked up by non-domain laptops that just connect to the Internet through the Wifi? Any ideas? THankyou.

Thanks all. I had removed the old proxy so re-created a NO_Proxy GPO with nothing filled in for the Proxy settings. Seems to be working. Thankyou. Wish it could have been so simple to remove and update but I guess that would be too good to be true.

Hi everyone, We have moved to another provider and no longer need the Proxy that was being set via a specific GPO I'd called Proxy Settings. I've removed it and done a gpupdate/force but machines are still logging on with the proxy enabled. I've tried full shutdown. Still not working. Any ideas? Thankyou.

Are you looking forward to getting stuck in to all your Summer jobs!
Sonic007 replied to kennysarmy's topic in General Chat
I have found you cant do everything. Make yourself alist and prioritise the jobs that need doing immediately. We had teachers wanting to come in and I ended up telling SLT that unless we close for a few days and I can take systems down then nothing will get done. -

yes, as it means I can crack on and get things done when no one is around and get the jobs done. -
Just wondering if anyone knows how long it should take to work..... I switched domains over from one provider to REG-123 and have updated the MX records with Google Records. Have emails not being delivered at the moment. It has been about 5 hours. Have I missed something or am I not being patient enough? Have also updated A records to Google and DNS name servers are currently set to Reg-123. Thanks for any help.

Mega busy here. We have leavers so having to chase all equipment returns. As well as running round making sure all films are playing....Schools turn into multi screen Cinemas on the last week of term. Got no end to do before the end of the day.

Yes! Seen this many times. And because of their mistake and not asking for help, they still blame you. I find that teachers have this inability to leave wires alone. I mean there is a reason I have put a notice saying don't turn the volume levels beyond the 12 O Clock mark or to not plug these cables into this port. If I was in a hospital, I wouldnt start picking up a stethoscope and thinking I'm a doctor.

So I've seen it time and time again..... Teachers or even SLT make a "Best bits" movie to show to all the kids. However..... Do they come to me the day before to make sure it all works? Do they check the sound and everything transitions as it should? Do they book out the hall and projector and put a request to have it setup so I have time to test it al works? No. Instead I'm meant to be a mind reader and get called once everyone is in the hall already, whilst a teacher fiddles with wires and tries to do it themselves and instead causes more chaos, and then they expect me to get it all working in seconds. And then I'm made to feel like an absolute plum walking out the hall with everyone wondering what is going on. Yeah thanks all. Thanks very much for the heads up.

Have any Schools moved their file storage to G Suite entirely?
Sonic007 replied to fiza's topic in Cloud Services
Nearly everything is GSuite here and we actively tell people to store ther files on Google Drive so if their machine goes down it won't all be lost. One thing I do reccomend though is setting up Shared Drives in advanvce, eg. for year groups and classes as if you have teachers sharing many files from their own drives and then they leave and the account is deleted and the files have not been transferred ownership then you can be in a mess. -
As some of you may know, I am obsessed with aviation...So when I was able to go and visit one of BA's recently retired 747 Jumbos, I couldnt wait. And although it rained, it made for this shot which I really like.
