  1. Ok, so this morning it is happening again.... So far at 09:15 and then recently at 10:14 Today is has only been down about a minute or two so I don't have much time to get testing. From what I have been able to do when it is down: - I can ping the domain controller. - I can NOT ping 8.8.8.8
  2. We are running 6.1.71 but good to know that, thankyou.
  3. Luckily we are a primary school and most students don't know much about I.T. (Yes I know.... famous last words.... and we probably have a kid genius hacker brewing in year5 or something). Will take a closer look and ping.
  4. Yesterday it was 11:33, 11:46, 13:04, 4:30, 4:51, and today 09:10, 11:14, and 12:50 I'm going to go on a hunt round the school again and check no one is doing anything. If I find someone is responsable then I will be throwing them off the side of the building.
  5. Router shouldnt be doing any DHCP. Domain Controller handling all that.
  6. Thanks for your replies so far. Things seem to have calmed down which is good... yet strange. My iphone abnd a laptop that were picking up a 169 address are now picking up a valid address again. Staff are reporting no 5 minute drop outs since around lunch time. So will see how it goes. I know there were some around 3:30pm - 4pm yesterday and although they arent at the same times day to day I will keep on moitoring things. Bugs me when I cant figure out whats going on. ISP are looking into it and have been "monitoring" the drops in connection but not saying much more. I think on my end things are OK as it would be odd to sometimes get a valid IP and then not wouldnt it? And no idea if thats linked to the drop outs which seem to affect mostly wired users who are already logged on and browsing and then it stops.
  7. Thanks for your message. Unifi Access Points with on site Key Controller.
  8. Those that are connected are fine until the internet stops for a few minutes but then are fine again. New machines connecting are not getting valid dhcp addresses.
  9. Think there may be an IP address issue now but not sure. Several machines connecting to WiFi are now getting a 169 addresses so thinking dhcp issue. I have to manually get it to forget the network to then pull a new valid IP. Hmmm.
  10. Not as far as I'm aware. - - - Updated - - - Where would I go to find this? Thanks.
  11. Possibly, although it has been working fine and was only installed a couple of months ago.
  12. Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone knew what may be causing a problem I am having. The Internet goes down for about 5 minutes several times throughout the day at random times. Every day is different. Internet just stops. Computers show as connected to the network but with no Internet access. A few minutes to 5 minutes later and the internet bounces back to life again. It has been happening for the past few days. No new network equipment added, no changes to servers, nothing different as far as I'm aware! Have tried rebooting our Fibre panel and Mikrotik router and problems still continue to happen. My ISP is looking in to their end but it is taking time and I want to try and figure out if it is their end or ours. Anyone have any ideas? Staff are starting to get annoyed. It isnt the easiest thing to diagnose. Thanks all.
  13. We were hoping to test out the standalone version first. Ideally I just want children to boot up the chromebook and then bring up Google Chrome and be able to login to their gsuite accounts. Then they can pass it to their friend and they can do the same with their gsuite account.
  14. I'm currently testing this on a laptop right now. Is there a quick way so that whoever boots up a laptop can quickly login with their gsuite details? To make it primary age friendly?
  15. I just export the VM's out of HyperV. Very easy to restore. I found Windows Server Backup took too long.
  16. I'd donate it all to the school. Said no one ever
  17. That would work. I will have a play around with it tonight and see if I can do that. In an ideal world I'd have my ISP router in modem only mode (unfortunately cant do that with current setup), then have my Edge Router that is split into several networks off that way. But I dont want to be adding more wifi access points for more networks / guest networks when I can use the wifi on the ISP issued router and have a million things already attached to it. Isolating the things on the Edge router from the first router's clients is my only option at the moment.
  18. Hi, I currently have my ISP issued modem/router and use the Wifi off that and the network ports at the back. I then have a Ubiquiti Edge router plugged into the ISP router and that is setup for two more seperate networks with their own IP ranges. All networks have access to the web via the first router which is fine and is needed. The two networks on the Edge router can't see each other which is intended. The issue I have is that since the networks on the Edge router have intenret access via the first router, they can see that router and other clients on it. I only want the clients that are on the Edge routers networks to see the internet and not have access to any of the clients on the first router. I see this might be an issue since they need to see the router to get intenret access but is there a way? Can I limit the Edge routers traffic to only see the Internet? I know in an ideal world I'd forget the ISP router and just go the route of the two seperate networks on the Edge router but that is not the case right now. Anyone point me in the right direction? Many thanks.
  19. Thankyou. So essentially all I need to do is this below? And specify my domain controller which has my printers?
  20. It is a right pain. Thanks for your sugestions so far. I will take a look. Does anyone know if there is a way I can inject the drivers for my staff users? So once the drivers are there and they login, the GPO does it's thing and the printers appear? Or maybe just disabling "Only use Package Point and Print" Group Policy will sort it?
  21. Anyone noticed a problem with deployed printers when installing the latest Windows updates? Member of staff logs in and there are no printers. Doing a gpudate /force does not get them added either. Only workaround I have seen is it will deploy the printers if the member of staff is set as a local administrator on that machine. Which isnt ideal. I dont believe there is a patch for this yet? Anyone else in the same boat? Thanks.
  22. We use Skedda. It's free for up to 6 bookable items.
  23. Not had a go yet. Will look at it during half term.
  24. Decisions, Decisions...... Do I go for the Sierra Blue or the Graphite as I normally always do? I do like the blue...Is it too girly? Hmmm, What dyou think?
