Unifi, if cash is tight, the way to go and frankly even it isn't, still buy unifi and put the rest of the money towards something else instead

I run office 365 I've taken out exchange servers at a couple of schools now, to be replaced with office365. Have been really impressed with it

At one school with limited space we have an acer veriton n281g, this hooks onto the back of an LED with a vesa mount, use a compact usb keyboard, keep things pretty neat and tidy

Just a side note, is it worth looking at airserver rather than an apple tv (presume it's been used for mirroring) save a box/splitter, cables etc. Keep things a little tidier

The projector, does it have an hdmi port, or are you using a hdmi to vga converter?

And the receiving primary school doesn't have to sign up, they just click the link in the email, takes them to a webpage where they download the file. Works well enough

This is the common answer for this issue, never seen it work though. Would love to be able to get to the bottom of it. SWGfL were as much use as a chocolate tea pot. Got one school over to Office365, impressed, 1 in progress, 10 to go! Oh a free sugarsync account will do the job, 5gb is ample for this sort of thing normally

I use Unifi in 3 of my schools, very, very impressed with it. The only issue I've had is the stability of the server software and its apparent dislike of 64bit operating systems, but this fairly easily worked around. Access points are great, the management is straightforward, it's soooooo much cheaper than other managed solutions. Each school I've installed it, it's gone in, it's worked and no one has whined about wireless issues - result...

Plus 1 for the Griffin Survivor - use them at a few schools, take them to the woods, all good

Had this for years, if they use Outlook it's fine. For everyone else, I just sugarsync and put a link to the file I want to send to them. Will be very happy once I've got them all moved to Office365 and said goodbye to easymail

Agree, Dell Support is good but buying it is the problem, given up dealing with a Dell Account manager, taking forever to respond to quote requests, better be right first time, if not, wouldn't bother trying to get it adjusted. Buying through resellers, just means they have the hassle and it's still just as slow (and expensive) Dell kit seems hideously expensive now (servers not so) Always, always used to buy Dell all in ones, just can't justify the cost anymore. Always bough HP ML350's which have been fab. A few hdd's pop and a motherboard die, but they've always sorted very promptly! Did buy a dell server recently against my will, wish we hadn't, it's okay now, but the fight get Windows 08r2 on it, urrgh. Don't really many desktops these days, currently like the HP all in ones, but they've discontinued the model I had been buying, haven't had to look since. Always buy Samsung laptops for the moment. Give it a year to 18 months and no doubt things will have changed again.

You get the 3 ap's and power over ethernet adapters

CP ltd sell them, had a set of them in the past, they supplied power leads, they don't come in the box i believe

Anything which describes itself as 'exciting' in reference to second hand computers - alarm bells ringing

Just have it as a member server, no odds then and gives you decent control of the security permissions

Anothe vote for HP Microserver, got fed up of replacing drives in NAS boxes, the cheaper ones seem to kill them for a past time. The Microserver seems to cope with simuteanous backup jobs much better as well. Cheap with the cashback!!!

With most of my schools being mixed XP and Windows 7, still moving towards consolidation of Windows 7! Lack of funds will slow things down further. Until Windows 8 has been out for sometime, we'll still choose Win7 over it. Expect they'll sell Windows 8 pc's with a Windows 7 downgrade, like they did with Vista.

That is a bit strange, will have a look at mine later and see what the problem could be, sounds like a filtering rule...

The data should be still stored on the exchange server, anything recently deleted would be accessible via 'recover deleted items' by connecting another outlook profile to the exchange server. If Outlook is in cached mode and for some reason the user is unable to contact the exchange server (ie; they've left the organisation) the data should be stored in a .ost file. Seearch for the file, making sure show hidden and system files is set. You can download (paid for) a program to convert the file to a pst which you can import into another instance of Outlook
