I'm looking for a self employed (or willing to be) education experienced IT technician around the Wiltshire/Swindon area. This would be part time, and all going well increasing over time. You must have primary education experience as you would be working on my behalf on your own in various primary schools. I can recommend Impero, not so well known but a nice bit of software. The monitoring is in realtime so a teacher can keep an eye on what the users are up to and block/record. They do a trial so you can have a play

Most of the primary schools i look after just use a class user and all the kids login as that. For foundation stage i try to make it as simple as possible as it is normally the staff who do the logging on.A couple of schools have individual users for all the kids but watching them login is painful!

I never do drive to drive anymore , always client to server just so this can never happen. Made the mistake of imaging the wrong way once and never wanted a repeat!!!! Anyway, Stellar ntfs recovery (got to pay for it) but it is good and the trial will let you see what you can get back before you pay. Good bit of software, but not the cheapest!!

You could try resetting the projector to factory settings (if you can see enough to do that), will clear any brightness issues. If possible test with another bulb from another working projector. If not get a new bulb as the old one (albeit not terribly old from the sounds of it) is a duff one. Check with supplier/manufacturer to make sure projector isn't covered by a bulb warranty before ordering!!

iPhone all the way for me! Use for business connected to my exchange server and it is brilliant. Just works nicely and with the exchange link never have to touch itunes after the initial setup and occasional update!! Handles email, contacts and calendar really well! and can remote control my servers using logmein on it pretty well! Has got me out of a few holes where clients have called me on the road, pulled over, logged in and sorted it.

Couple of issues getting it activated, but all go now!! Copy and paste... finally!!!

It still sounds like a client issue to me, maybe a draft got saved and then sent to perhaps the original one recipient or stuck in the outbox. Can't see why exchange would randomly pull up an old email and send to a couple of its original recipients.

I'm presuming you've checked the sender's account (you said all were internal) and it's not something as simple as it being resent by the sender (accidentally)

My setup is just for a few users: Windows Server 2008 64bit Dual Intel Quadcore 2.4Ghz 4Gb - more the better,take this as minimum RAID5 3x 146gb SAS 15k hot swap drives - suspect you will need a bit more than this

£15 per hour, fair enough, if you can survive on that kind of money good for you. I wish i could offer my customers that kind of rate, but frankly i'd be bankrupt pretty quickly. I enjoy what i do very much, but it is a job and i need to make a living out of it. Most Primary schools with a good support structure are unlikely to need consultancy, a good technician with a good relationship with the school 'should' be able to cover 'most' scenarios. Perhaps for a wireless survey, advice on a managed setup etc, which a lot of Primary Tech's are not going to be familiar with. Good luck, I hope you do well

Cost of external support has to be reasonable agreed, but frankly anyone who is self employed, or a firm putting people in place for a few hours at a time has to make a reasonable return on that time and also pay for dead time. Most primary level IT support i've had dealings with (that is worth having) has been between £25 and £50 per hour dependent on level of expertise. Don't think it is worth paying more than that for a primary. Anything less than that and they are unlikely to have the expertise necessary to do a good job. For reference I am a self employed techie supporting Primary schools. I think i give good support and good value for money with impartial advise tailored to the needs of the school.

I always try to get Dell LCD's with a soundbar on the bottom. It has a nice big volume control and a built in twin headpohone port (saves on splitters) Best of both worlds!
