  1. Ebay, you can get a security bit set for about £8
  2. 1x Server 2008 with exchange 2007 to provide Outlook Web Access and activsync for iphone
  3. Acer are definitely a 'value' proposition, read: cheap but low build quality/reliabilty. You get what you pay for at the end of the day. Always been hassle when I've had to support them. For admin machines i always want reliable, that equals HP or Dell
  4. Capita are recommending PC's with 4gb of RAM at the schools i look after and a decent dual core processor (again not Celeron) Wouldn't recommend below 2gb even if running XP (Never know you may want to change in the near future) I always stick to either Dell or HP for admin PC's. Acer are a nightmare when things go wrong. Recently had a laptop take 3 months to come back from them.
  5. Got fed up of waiting for Dell to respond to quote requests, always took at least a 'few' email prompts. For servers i prefer HP, but for workstations i like the Dell All-in-one small form factor PC's. Recently found another supplier that can get me Dell kit easily and normally undercut them aswell! Orchid IT Support for Derby and the East Midlands area Simon Hulland deals with edu kit and normally responds very promptly!
