    Same as Alex, heard good and bad about Meraki... For me though... It offers nothing i'm interested in that Unifi doesn't and is faaaaaaar more expensive....

    A lot of people just use the standard ones... But as you have PoE Switches, it would make sense to go pro

    I would seriously recommend the tough switches to power, makes for a much cleaner install

    I've started putting AC ones in recently, which are a bit pricier but more future proof, but even they are still cheaper than the ruckus ones. Up till very recently I've only used standard and they've done the job, must have about 150 of them across all sites

    That's the thing, with unifi you can just buy a 3x pack of access points and try it. Big difference is the controller which with unifi is software based, so you save a huge chunk of money straight away. No licensing fees depending on how many ap's you need.

    I run Unifi in 11x primaries, highly cost effective (HUGHLY cheaper than Ruckus) set and forget and does everything a primary would need. Infinitely scalable as a school grows and no nasty support contracts.

    Do you have ipads? Bonjour traffic can grind things to a halt, found isolating them onto a guest wireless network improved network performance massively...

    Good plan, had a MacBook pro previously, was amazed at what I got for it when I sold it at over 4 years old... I've never had a non apple laptop last me more than 2 years..

    Well I use a MacBook air for work, very lightweight, great battery, powerful enough for everything I do and is lovely to work with.. I do run Windows on it (hardly ever boot into osx) only thing that lets it down in my eyes is the screen resolution. That's the only thing I would change.. Did max it out spec wise when I bought it, i7, 8gb ram, 500GB ssd. Touchpad is second to none, backlit keyboard I wouldn't be without for those dark corners I seem to always end up working in... If you can afford it, go for it. Worst case scenario, if it's not for you, sell it on...

    Well all the schools I look after (across 3x county's) buy the licence through the LA, but the support is provided directly from Capita... So it means every time I want a technical document I have to ring Capita to get it.

    I'm sorry if that comes across as harsh... But it is just a little frustrating...

    I would imagine that's probably a rather large percentage of users then.. So essentially the freely available up to date information for the proper deployment of sims/fms isn't actually available to those who need it...

    For those people with clipart working, have they updated office (using windows update/wsus) For me, I've found if they've been recently updated, web clipart is no longer available...

    Well I personally think the 65" is perfect, good size and works well. Have got a school using 55" but always felt they look a little small..

    Not great, my wii u is in the cupboard under the tv, it struggles sometimes if i'm sat on the sofa about 2-2.5m back... better with the door open

    Indeed, I agree, please just give us easy access to the current correct information as to how to install. Very happy to follow the guidelines, but please provide them rather than bashing people for not doing it... Some of us are single technicians, who don't have the time to go digging for info every time...

    Well perhaps Capita, after insinuating incomplete information is available on edugeek, maybe should provide standard installation information and updates where people will see it (here) Not everyone has a supportnet user (not that that's a particularly nice site to navigate) Just a thought.. And on the subject was speaking to a capita engineer but a few months ago, who insisted that S: drive was available for anyone using sims.net

    I use Kingdom Data Recovery | Hard Drive Data Recovery UK always found them very good and not 'too' expensive, especially when compared to kroll

    Again, would recommend avoiding the B5400, awful issues with the touchpad and wireless. All of ours have USB wireless adapters and external mice!
