  1. We use a system called lightspeed for ipad managemnt and app deployment. Does take a fair bit of seting up with enrolling, apple ids and creating users but once done it works a dream!! Fairly cheap too at about £5 per device. Deffo worth a look, let me know if want anymore info!! Oh and good luck with the suite of iMac's, you'll need it lol!!
  2. Wanting to review the whole backup solution and keen to know what others use.... Both for physical and virtual. To tape, disk? SAN/NAS? Cloud? Which providers? Seem's to me many many providers / solutions to want to make sure go with the right one. Thank you.
  3. How much are these coming in at for you? Looking at doing a similar project?
  4. Think this may have gone in the wrong section?
  5. Voted for you, seriously wicked photo there!!!!
  6. Bit of a strange one here and not sure what's really happening. In terms of Hyper V - I'd say i know enough but wouldn't say i'm an expert! It's just seemed to work in the past...... Got 2 virtual servers and they are both running exceptionally slow, one more so than the other. The main concern is the Print Server which is a VM running papercut. For some reason it is also running at 100% CPU whenever you do anything on it. The server hosting HyperV is absolutely fine performance and spec wise. It is also performing exceptionally slow when transferring data to/from it. If i ping it the response times can be as high as 180ms. Rest of the network seems fine traffic wise and pings all fine even the Hypervisor pings fine. Any ideas? Am i missing something straight forward? Thanks
  7. Would you courier if we paid the costs?
  8. Out of curiosity @localzuk - not entirely linked to the 10Gbe switch talk but.... Your MTA... Have you always been employed through this trust or is it a recent thing? Did your job change at all? Similar things on the horizon so just wondering how it works?
  9. Let me know if you find out - Deffo will be doing the same as you if possible to purchase through PO.
  10. Yes agree with you there. Always need to be upgrading. Just half of me thinks almost 'whats the point'. Likewise, I will more than likely upgrade it during the holidays. Probably Easter for me. But just thought I'd see if people were of the same opinion as myself
  11. Yes that is only feature I have found to be of benefit so far!! The drop down of recent files when attaching a file.
  12. Exactly that. Currently Office 2013 site wide. Is it worth the upgrade to go to Office 2016 yet? I've installed it on my laptop and can't see many differences. Done a bit of research on it and again can't really spot any amazing must have features in it? Any opinions on it? I do however like to have the new shiny stuff!!!! thankyou!
  13. Desktops and laptops! But where there is a desktop, an additional monitor is attached by the PC.
  14. Hi, Probably a very simple one this (well i hope so!) Moving more machines each day over to Windows 8.1 however for some reason it keeps extending the desktop by default when connected to smartboards / large touchscreens. I've tried having a search to find a GPO to keep the displays duplicated rather than extending them but not finding much? Does anyone else have the same issues? If so, how do you get round it? Becoming a massive pain having to go to classes each day just to change this for teachers!! Thankyou!
  15. Out of interest - Is there any SEN school ones that anyone follows? I use the Webanywhere one but where it says must publish certain attainment levels we are unable to as our children don't work at those levels. Just wondering if there is a specific one out there?
  16. Must say that's the one I've been going off lately!!!
  17. Do you want the information sending in an email or PM to you?
  18. Love reading all this as this is exactly what I have done. I started as an apprentice and have now being promoted elsewhere as a Network Manager - take every opportunity possible and couldn't agree more about being friendly and approachable. It's the softskills that get you the jobs. Anyone can learn IT related skills, but you can't learn to be a nice warm welcoming person! It also helps when another techie that worked with me was an absolute horror, a grump, a misery which made me look all the better! Also - attend all nightouts!!!!
  19. In reality though that wouldn't happen - well at the previous 2 schools I have worked at it certainly wouldn't!
  20. I'd be speaking to the Business Manager regarding school insurance...
  21. I would be interested to see how you've put one together too if you wouldnt mind sending me a copy too! Thank yoU!
  22. They're the Headteacher. They've employed you. You get them what they want. You still get your payday at end of every month. Simple.
  23. Hi all. Bit of a strange one here.... A few of the computers in school this morning won't logon. We have a GPO in place that displays a disclaimer from the eSafety policy which they have to ok before it allows them to enter their username and password. Once they press CTRL + ALT + DEL and ok the disclaimer the screen just goes blank..... and won't proceed to let them logon. Anyone seen this before / any ideas? I've rebooted both DC's as a bit of a long shot but nothing's happened! Thanks!
  24. Smart shirt, smart trousers and shoes. Work in a professional environment therefore jeans is a huge no. Even if the code of conduct allowed it i wouldnt feel right turning up working in a school looking like i was off to the pub.
