Office 365 Migration Advice / Tips / Recommendations
adamholt1 replied to adamholt1's topic in Cloud Services
Hi, Yes, we will be planning on using DirSync. -
Hi, To set the scene....... Planning to move from on premises Exchange 2013 to Office 365. We currently have 197 mailboxes around 500GB worth of data we are looking to cut this down quite a bit though and hope to get the mailbox number down to around the 150 as some of them aren't necessarily 'used' (just used to forward emails on as part of a MAT). How would you recommend migrating to O365 - would you say a cutover migration would be easiest for us or a hybrid deployment/migration? We would be doing this in the school holidays so downtime would be factored in as well as we are planning to have the majority of staff using the O365 OWA - only key admin & SLT staff that would need Outlook re-configuring? Initially research done by myself suggested a cutover migration would be the best suited however following a conference call with a 3rd party supplier, they have recommended a Hybrid configuration so in the middle now! Thanks in advance.

We use the Automatically charge to a single shared account then specify the account below. That works pretty well.

Allowing student password changes for non-admin teacher

Is there a way of only having access to student user accounts? -
Have you looked at doing a group policy item targeting? 1 policy, keeps things nice and tidy that way too.

They are a brilliant piece of kit at what i think to be a very good price. Work for us in a special school for height adjustable to make the screens available for all students. Yes there are some bolts at the top as if you are looking down on the bracket whilst mounted to the wall. Make sure you do the same on each side so that it is balanced! ie 5 turns on the left 5 turns on the right. Depending on the weight of the screen it may take a good number of turns as i was surprised. I thought it wasn't working at first!

Print management - track, how many credits, how do you do it?
adamholt1 replied to tj2419's topic in How do you do....it?
Do you use print credits? Yes If yes, how many do you give students? (Special School so N/A) If yes, how many do you give staff? £20.00 per term - (black and white A4 equates to 0.06p and a colour A4 is 6p) Do you have managed printers centralised? Or one in each room? Managed printers centralised. Do you charge departments for staff printing? Yes - each staff member has their 'own personal allowance' which is billed back to the department budget. Do you charge students if they want to print more than their allocation? N/A -
Please could you quote me through PM!!!

Get a Nikon. Fantastic cameras. Again the D3300 is great or if you want to step up in features the D5500. Make sure you get VR lens for image stabilization if your taking long shots.

As much as I agree with you in principal with what your saying. Yes they should have good/strong basic IT skills to work in admin. However, if you're asked to help and train people then why not do it? You still get paid either way. If anything it's only developing yourself too and adding another feather to your bow as such? As well as keeping the right people on side instead of fighting with them. Just my thoughts and how I would approach it.
